The English Civil War began
King Charles I and the Parliament seperated. This caused the start of the English Civil War. The war was not a continuous battle due to mobility. Charles I was supported by landowners and Anglicans while the Parliamentary was supported by people in towns and cities. The war consisted of three major battles: Edge Hill, Marston Moor, and Naseby. At the end of the war, Charles I lost the war to the Parliament and he also lost power over England. -
Battle of Trafalgar
In the Battle of Trafalgar, Napoleon wanted to invade Britain. However, with the joint forces of the French and Britain Navy, he and his army weren't able to invade Britain. -
Great Britain was renamed United Kingdom
Great Britain was renamed in the 1807 when England, Scottland, Wales, and Northern Ireland were united together as one country. -
Crimean War
The Crimean War was against the Russians who tried to claim holy places for their own. The British won the Crimean War along with the French and the Ottomans. -
The Education Act was passed
The Education Act states that children up to the age of 11 must go to school. -
Gallipoli Campaign
Britain and France joined forces to capture Constinople, capital of the Ottoman to have clear sea route Russia. Britain and Frence failed reflecting a defeat for the Allied Powers. -
World War I Ends
At the end of WWI, about a million British died. In the beginning of WWI, in the first month 75000 volunteered to go in the war. Also,during WWI, food prices increased gradually and women were more valued in society. -
Women age 21 and above were allowed to vote
In the 1918, women were being allowed to vote. However, during that time women had to be age 30 or older to vote. Although with movements and groups formed by women for suffrage, the Representation of the People Act of 1928 was passed letting women at the age of 21 to vote. -
Battle of Britain
Hitler ordered the German air force to attack the Royal Air Force of Britain called Operation Sealion. It was created to let German ships through the channel without having the Royal Air Force interfering. The Germans attacked airfields and aircraft factories. -
India gains indepence for Britain
Mohandas Gandhi declared a movement that disobeyed the governent without using violence. During WWII, India denied to help Britain in the war. Gandhi demanded the British to leave India. The British let India have its independence since it wasn't governable anymore. -

They were in the Allied Powers side along with Russia, Serbia, and France. -
What lead to their participation of World War I?
The Germans began to attack Belgium to make their way to France. With United Kingdom part of the Allied Powers, they help fight the Germans. -
What was their role in the war?
The United Kingdom invented tanks and sent 8 million men to trenches to help the Allied Powers to gain victory in the Great War. -
What happened to them after the war?
After the war, United Kingdom gained territories mostly in Middle East. They so had financial problems in the country and the country weakened. With the country weakening, it made a way for the Irish to gain Independence. -
