The Shakers were a group of religious pacifist that created a community in which they strived for perfection in helping the world become greater. They held the same values as Christians and thought that everything you did was for God.They were only one of the religions to pop up out of the second great awakening. -
Industrial revolution
A new age of inventions and inventors was just beginning in Britain. The creative minds of this time decided to take part in creating things that will better their world. This way of thinking eventual transferred over to the Americas sparking their own industrial revolution. -
Cotton Gin
Eli Whitney was an inventor who solved a problem for southerners who didn't wish to pick a sort cotton by hand. The cotton gin allowed for cotton cultivation much faster and allowed the cotton to be sorted faster as well. Some say the gin furthered the reign of slavery over the south. -
John Q Adams wins election
John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, Henry Clay, and William Crawford all ran for president and saw how Adams won. However, this election was very controversial because after Clay lost he endorsed Adams so heavily it was seen as corrupt. He decided that in return Clay would become Adams Secretary of State. -
Trail Of Tears
After Jackson was elected, the consensus was that the Indians had land that the Americans wanted. Jackson was happy to oblige and pasted the Indian removal act. The natives were ripped from there land and moved west further and further. Thousands were killed due to the removal. -
Edgar Allen Poe
Poe in this year published and released his creation called the Raven. It was one of his most influential and inspiring works of the time. He was one of the people to revolutionize poetry into a more dark manner.He was a visionary in his craft.
