The 1860 election was between Abraham Lincoln and John C. Breckenridge, Stephen A. Douglas, and John Bell. The main talk during the election of how slavery would be handled. The Emancipation of Proclamation was issued by President Abraham Lincoln. It declared that all persons held as slaves will now be free. -

This war had the largest amount of casualties than any other in the Civil war. In this war the Union pulled through and won because of there fish hook defensive formation. -
Surrender at Appomattox
Robert E. Lee and his army realized that there was little hope. So they surrendered to General Grant. They met up and decided on there conclusion, that the bloodiest conflict in the nations history was getting to a stop. -
Assassination of President Lincoln
The 16th president of the US was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. Lincoln was at Ford's theater when the horrible event took place. It also occurred 5 days after the confederates surrendered. -
The Thirteenth Amendment
During Lincolns time in office, and just before his assassination he ended slavery. Slavery was Abolished in this amendment.
