Later pronounced by the Supreme Court to be unconstitutional, the Civil Rights Act of 1875 guaranteed equal rights in public places and prohibited racial discrimination in jury selection for African Americans -
The Homestead Strike
The strike of angry steel factory workers due to the refusal of raising wages and improving working conditions. The strike lead to a battle between the angry workers and armed Pinkerton detectives, leaving 10 men dead and around 60 men wounded. -
The Atlanta Compromise
African American educator and leader, Booker T. Washington, delivers his famous speech "The Atlanta Compromise"
