    In the year 1492 Christopher Columbus arrived to what he believed to be America.
  • 1495

    Great Slave Trade

    In the year 1495, they
    went on a great slave raid... then picked the five hundred best specimens to load onto ships. Of those
    five hundred, two hundred died en route. The rest arrived in Spain and were put up for sale
  • 1550

    Native American Deaths

    By the
    year 1515, there were perhaps fifty thousand Indians left. By 1550, there were five hundred.
  • First English Settlement

    In 1607, 104 English men and boys arrived in North America to start a settlement. On May 13 they picked Jamestown, Virginia for their settlement, which was named after their King, James I. The settlement became the first permanent English settlement in North America.
  • First French Settlement

    The first permanent French settlement in America was established by Samuel de Champlain in 1608 at Quebec, a fortified village on the St. Lawrence River.
