Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution marks a major turning point in history; almost every aspect of daily life was influenced in some way. In particular, average income and population began to exhibit unprecedented sustained growth.he Industrial Revolution began in the United Kingdom and most of the important technological innovations were British. -
Civil War
Civil was fought for the uion of the Confedracy. Civil war failed the uions therefore Slavery had to be started. To get the country back on its feet they promised free rights, and the uions promised to free the slaves. -
Haymarket Square Riot
It started when Unions were firing blacklsiting union members. Before the riot started the unnions were having a lockout. Riot only happened because they were picketing in reaction to the police killing several workers the previous day. -
Homestead Strike
Unions helped working hours and work spped for employees. It helped working conditions. It also settled on uniform wages. -
The Pullman Strike
Workers were facing wage cuts. Workers were also facing 12 hour shifts. The workers refused to work on or run any trians. -
Railway Labor Act
This act prohibited discrimination against Unions. It took away the Yellow Dog contrtacts. It really on relied on people that worked on the interstate or on railroads. -
The Great Depression
Bby 1933 over 5 million employees were unemployed. The economy never really turned around when this hit. Companies had to layoff workers becasue their companies were failing as a business. -
The Norris-LaGuardia Act
This act was for workers to pledge not to join the union. Workers started to boycott and picketing to protest aggainst Unions being formed. The act was one of the first federal labor laws supporting organized labor. -
Textile Workers Strike
Workers were tired of working on LAbor Day and such other holidays. Demands were not met. Unions finally then blacklisted as a result. -
The Fair Labor Standards Act
This is a federal statue that started the 40 hour work week. Unions could finally start workers at a minimum wage. Unions also were no longer allowed to hire minors, the government prohibited child labor. -
World War II
This war needed too many people to fight for the country that the economy started to fail. It later got A New Deal from the president. After the war the country started to settle into more economi problems.
