    Droysen's Speech stated that he thought Prussia should be the ruling region for Germany. He thought that's where unity would eventually come from. He wanted to take the power away from Austria because he believed they were weak with the power.

  • Otto von Bismarck: Letter to Minister von Manteuffel, 1856

    This was a letter to a minister that Bismarck sent. In this letter Bismarck was complimenting Austria. This was a sign of Bismarck's intelligence so he could try to get Austria to back down power and give it to Prussia.

    Bismarck believed in a strong military and industry. When he first came into power, he gave a speech about what he stood for and how he was going to help run the country. This was the Blood and Iron Speech. Blood meaning a strong military, and iron meaning an advanced industry.

    This article summarizes the Seven Weeks War between Austria and Prussia. Austria was formerly the main power in ruling the German country. However, Prussia wanted to gain power. To show their power, Prussia defeated Austria in a very short seven weeks. This was all part of Bismarck's master plan to gain leadership within the German country.

    The day Germany became its own nation was May 10, 1871. That was the day that the Treaty of Frankfurt was made to end the Franco-Prussian war. The Germans held a party ironically enough in France. All of this was held in the city of Versailles.
