A Brief History of High Heels
High heels may seem like a recent fashion invention, but they actually have a long history. For more than 500 years high heels have been worn by both men and women for extra height, social standing or to stay in fashion. The fashion was probably first started by Catherine de Medici, who commissioned shoes with two-inch heels to make her appear taller on her wedding day with Henry II of France in 1533.
