French and Indian War
Both Britian and France had colonies in North America. The British wanted the Ohio River Valley to trade with the Indians. The French had built forts to trade. In 1754 George Washington fought the French and lost. -
The Sugar Act
The sugar act was a revenue raising act. Passed by the Parlaiment ofGreat Britian. They reduced the rate by half but also enforced it more hoping that the tax would be collected this helped spur the American Revolution. -

It was a revenue raising act passed by the parliament of Great Britian. It stated that new regulations must be made in order to better support the kingdom. -
The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was a tax created by the British Parliament to tax the colonies of British America. Printed materials had to be made on stamped paper that was made in England. -
The Stamp Act Congress
The stamp act Congress was the first official group of delegates to meet together and discuss the British taxation. They believed that the parliament couldnt impose the stamp tax because it did not have any representation from the colonies. -
Townshend Acts
The Townshend Acts were acts passed by the British Parlaiment. The Revenue Act, Indemnity Act, Commishioners of Custom Act, Vice Admerality Court Act, and the New York Restraining Act. It was done to pay goveners and judges so they wouldent have to worry about colonial rule. -
The Boston Massacre
The British army opened fire on the civilians. They killed 5 and injuired 6 others. The troops had been in Boston to bring order for the king of Britian. A small mob of civilians formed and ended badly for Britian because it was a big part of the American revolution. -
The First Continental Congress
Delegates from 12 of the 13 colonies would meet in Carpenters Hall. They met to discuss issues such as economic boycott of British trade, rights and grievences, and petitioned King George the III. -
The Battle of Lexington and Concord
This was the beginning of the American Revolutionary War. The first fighting between Great Britian and The Original 13 Colonies. There was 700 British soldiers and 500 American malitia men. The Americans defeated the British. -
George Washington
He was the Commander in chief of the Continental Confederation during the American Revolutionary War. He later became the first President of the United States and one of the founding fathers. He was also in favor of the constitution. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
Took place on Breeds Hill during the seige of Boston. The victory of the battle went to Britian but Britian had a largee amount of casualties. 800 wounded and 226 killed. -
The Second Continental Congress
It was made up of delegates from the 13 colonies. They met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were in control of the continental war and helped adopt the Declaration of Independence. -
Thomas Paines "Common Sense" Published
He wrote a pamphlet that was inspirational to the people in the 13 colonies. It asked them to demand independence and sparked the revolution. -
The Boston Tea Party
This was a protest of British taxes in Boston. The British government and East India Trading Company were in control of the tea that was brought into Boston. When these ships came to port and didn't leave they were boarded at night and the tea was thrown off the ships. -
The British Evacuate Boston
This was the beginning of the American Revolutionary War. New England malitia men sorrounded Boston to prevent movement of the British and after 11 months the British were forced to leave by ship. -
Richard Henry Lee Proposes Independence
The Lee Resolution was also known as the resolution of independence. He was declaring that the united colies be independant from the British empire. Richard Henry lee was the first to propose this. -
Declaration Of Independence Adopted
It was adopted by the the Second Continental Congress. It was signed by 56 delogates of the 13 colonies. Several of the colonies were not sure that there was a real reason to adopt the Declaraction. Due to circumstances the majorty ruled and the Declaration was adopted. -
Declaration of Independence Signed
The Declaration wasnt signed by all member of Congress on July but it is the date on the document. Others signed on or after August 2. The Declaration has a total of 56 signatures.
