    HUAC
    The HUAC was for investigation of suspected communists. the HUAC and Joseph accused Hollywood of having communists hiding pro-communists messages in movies. They were put on trial, went to jail and we're blacklisted after their hearings
  • Yalta Conference

    Yalta Conference
    The Yalta conference is also called the Crimea Conference. The people at the Yalta conference were Presdinet Franklin D. Roosevelt, Prime minister Whinsten Churchill, and Premier Joseph Stalin. the conference was to discuse how to reconstructe the parts of Euopre that were torn up because of World War II.
  • Potsdam Conference

    Truman replaced FDR after he died. Truman really loathed Stalin. Stalin argued that Germans had invaded his country multiple times and that he needed a buffer zone against them.Stalin breaks the promise that he said at the Yalta conference.
  • Iron Curtain

    Iron Curtain
    The Iron curtain is a phrase by Winston Churchill, who wa the prime minister of Great Britain. Stalin claimed that he needed eastern europe as a buffer zone incase of a war like Germans, the Soviets had tooken over eastern Europe. A buffer zaone is a group of countries/states that suurounds another country/state for protection.

    Truman Doctrine
    The truman doctrine was menat for any country threatened by communism, soviets tried to take over Greece and Turkey but the U.N, Great Britain, and the U.S needed to prevent the spread of communism.
  • Berlin Blockade

    Berlin Blockade
    The Berlin Blockade was caused by the Soviets. The Soviets closed all the trafic that lead to west Berlin to stop U.S supplies and aid from reaching to Berlin.The Berlin Blockade ended in May 12, 1949.
  • Berlin Airlift

    Berlin Airlift
    The airlift began in June 27, 1948 and ended in May 12, 1949. The U.S sent food, aid and supplies to Berlin for almost 1 year 24/7 by U.S aircrafts, they kept sending aid to Berlin to keep them from turning communist.
  • Containment

    The start of the containment policy was to contain or limit the expansion of the Soviet Union or/and communism. The U.S did not like communism because they believed it would limit new innovations, take much longer to achieve something that might have been able to been achieved sooner because of the competition.
  • NATO

    NATO stands for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization which is a milatary allience of the 12 western European countries, Canada and the United States. NATO was meant to help other countries that were also "at war" with the Soviets.
  • Alger Hiss

    Alger hiss was born in November 11, 1904and passed away in November 15, 1996. Hiss was accused of being a spy even though he was an American lawyer, a government official, an author, a lecturer, and he was a U.S State department and a U.N official whom also was involved in the creation of the United Nations.
  • 'Witch Hunt'

    Edmund Walsh was an anti-communist, he was the one who suggested a crusade against communist; and so McCarthy agreed and took advantage of the fanatic terror wave against communist. Joseph McCarthy went on accusing over 200 people, not only in the government and armed forces of being communists but also in the entertainment industry.
  • Korean War

    The Korean war beagan beacuse North Korea invaded South Korea to turn it communism, so then the U.N came in to back up South Korea; the U.N and the U.S got involved because North Korea wanted to spread communism so the U.S had to do everything in its power to contain communism in North Korea; and then the Chinese-North Korean-Soviet invaded South Korea but failed, and so all of Korea became demilitarized
  • Julius and Ethel Rosenburg

    They were both executed in June 19, 1953, because Julius turned out to be a spy and Ethal was married to Julius and so the U.S government assumed that she was a spy as well, but she had know idea about her husband.
  • H-Bomb

    The hydrogen bomb is 100 times more powerful than the atomic bomb. Everyone became paranoid of the threat of total destruction.
  • Soviet's Hydrogen Bomb

    After the U.S accomplished the creation of the h-bomb the Soviet rushed to make their bomb. Three years later the Soviet's created their bomb.
  • SEATO

    Although the creation of SEATO was active on programs for culture and education, many lost interest in the SEATO and withdrew from it; and many people believe that it was not successful because of all th altercations about the use of the SEATO military.
  • Warsaw Pact

    The Warsaw pact was meant as a responce to NATO. Warsa pact were members of the Soviet alliences with eastern satelite european countries.
  • Vietnam War

    Vietcong wanted to take over South Vietnam. The U.S could not let that happen because of the containment policy, so the U.S sent military advisors to train the people in South Vietnam. The U.S believed that if any country in South East Asia fell into communism then all of Asia will fall, then India, then Japan, and then endangering Europe. The Vietnam war lasted 18 years, 4 months, 4 weeks, and 1 day, it ended in April 30, 1975.
  • Sputnik

    The launch of Sputnik began the space race between the U.S and the Soviet Union, and the creation of NASA in 1961. Sputnik was a U.S satellite aircraft.
  • NASA

    The creation of NASA began becuase of the Sputnink, and the space race,
  • Pig Invasion

    The U.S wanted to over throw Fidel Castro because he was a communist leader and because Cuba was way to close to the U.S and if Cuba became communist, then the U.S might not be able to contain it. This invasion ended in April 19, 1961.
  • The Berlin Wall

    Germans wanted to cut off West Berlin from East Germany and East Berlin. The Berlin wall was also referred to the Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    The Soviet Union wanted to place a nuclear missile in Cuba but the u.s threatened to destroy any ship that came near, but then the U.S and the Soviet Union compromised on puting the missiles away before they caused complete annihilation. This crisis only lasted a few days it ended in October 28, 1962.
  • Moon Landing

    The first U.S man landing was Apollo 11
  • Kent State Protest Incident

    This incident happened in the kent state university in the city of Kent, Ohio. Some students were protesting because of the Cambodian campaign. The security guards of the university began shooting 67 rounds in only 13 seconds, which killed 4 people and caused 9 injuries.
  • The Fall

    The Berlin wall was very wide, people who intended to get over it would most likely die because of the certain oobsticles they had to go threw, it was very extended. People would go to the wall with slechhammers to get a 'suvenier' of the wall, various people went, they were named as Mauerspechte.The wall did not fall exactly in November 9, 1989 but it's when people did not care about it, it was not as important anymore.
  • Domino Theory

    The domino theory was nasically meant for for countries around the world to be aware of what might happen if anti-communist countries bcome communist.
