After the Battle of Gettysburg, Lincoln stated that any slave will have freedom if the made it to the Union. As well the speech gave Americans the idea that we will live together not apart. -

The goal here was to destroy the will to fight the Union by using a tactic called total war. Total war is when you target buildings and civilians. -

Battle at Appomattox Court House. The Unions tactics of total war caused the Confederates to surrender and rejoin the Union. -
Abraham Lincoln is Assassinated
Lincoln is killed in a movie theater by a man name John Wilkes Booth. A famous actor who thought Lincoln was trying to over throw the Constitution and destroy the south.
