Virginia colony founded
Tobacco was plentiful here, and swarmed with people of the Church of England. The people that disagreed with the Church of England moved farther South. John Smith founded this colony in 1607 mainly for tradeing and profits. -
New York founded
New York is founded in 1623 after being taken over from the Dutch. It was origanilly New Amsterdam. -
Massachusetts Bay Colony founded
In 1630, John Winthrop came to the new world and established a colony. -
Maryland founded
Maryland was another haven for ALL religous groups.(Except Jews or people that didn't believe in god.) Founded by Sir Calvert Lord of Baltimore and his son Cecil Calvert in 1632, indentured servants were also plentiful here. -
Connecticut
in 1636, a puritan named Thomas Hooker created his own Puritan colony, where their were different rules. -
Rhode Island founded
Roger Williams is kicked out of Massachusetts Bay and then he buys land from Native Americans and founds a colony -
Delaware
Delaware was founded by the Dutch, then taken over by the Sweedish, then many European settlers were killed off by American Indians, then the colonists moved to Delaware. William Penn couldn't govern both Delaware and Pennsylvania and Delaware, so it finally became a colony. -
New Jersey
New Jersey was founded in 1660 by England in general. They hoped more people would come if they made it more attractive. England made the colony so that the people could appoint a governer, and religous groups were free there -
The Carolina's are founded
The Carolinas were a great source of money as you could go their and raise lots of cash crops. It was also a haven for different religous groups. The founders of the Carolinas colony were the Lord proprietors. -
Pennslyvania
Pennslyvania was founded specifically for Quakers, It was founded by William Penn. The King of England owed his father money, and Penn was a quaker, so the King wanted to get rid of Penn anyway, -
Plymouth Colony
The Plymouth colony was given a name (Plymouth) by John White because the sailors that came their set sail from the port of Plymouth back in England. -
Georgia
Georgia was founded in 1732 by a man named James Oglethorp. His colony ensured that anyone living in it would have been free of British obstruction/jail. -

On Feb. 4th of 1789, Congress elected George washington as the
