It started with America intervening in the Cuban War of Independence. America freed many Spainish colonies. -
Creation of the Panama Canal
The Panama canal was made to make traveling through South America much faster. It also allowed America's navy to become very powerful. -
World War One
The U.S. tried to remain neutral in the conflict. We were eventually pulled into it. -
Prohibition/Roaring 20's
Alchohol was banned, which lead to illegal alchohol businesses, indirectly feeding the Mob. It was also a time of hardcore partying. -
The Great Depression and the New Deal
The stock market crashed. Most people were invested in it, so many companies went under and many people lost their jobs. -
World War 2
America was brought into the war when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. We island hopped through the pacific and eventually nuked two Japanese cities as well as aiding the Russians and our allies in Europe. -
Pearl Harbor
Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and destroyed most of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. We responded and defeated the Japanese. -
The Korean War
America invaded North Korea because of North Korea's attacks on American allied South Korea. We were almost pushed into the sea, almost had the upper hand, and then the war ended in a stalemate, neither side gaining any ground. -
Acquisition of Hawaii
Hawaii became an official state. It is the newest state to join the Union. -
The Vietnam War
Amrica fought communist guerillas in Vietnam. We lost the war. -
The Cold War
After the invention of nuclear weapons, people did not know how to use them. America plus its allies stared down the Soviet Union. There was a good possibibility of nuclear war, but luckily, no one ever fired a shot. -
The Gulf War
Iraq invaded Kuwaiit and America and NATO responded. We defeated the Iraqies. -
September 11, 2001
Terrorists hijacked planes and succeeded in destroying both towers of the World Trade Center. Osama Bin Laden claimed responsibility. -
Operation Enduring Freedom
America invaded Aphganistan. We are still fighting the war. -
Invasion of Iraq
It is the second invasion of Iraq. The reason for invasion was to eliminate Iraq's "weapons of mass destruction."
