Compromise of 1850
This let California a free state, but then allowed the newly acquired territories to choose if they want o be a free state or a slave state.This then made the Fugitive Slave Act which provided the southern slave holders with legal weapons to catch the slaves that escape to free states.This compromise was made by Henry Clay. -
