  • Lend-Lease Act

    Lend-Lease Act
    Positive Inpact During World War 2 President Roosevelt gave Russia/USSR millions of dollars of war weaponry and supplies to help them defeat Nazi Germany. The lend-lease act autherized the transfer of arms or other defense materials. British, Soviets, Brazil, China, and other countries recieved supplies under this law. The purpose of the lend lease act was to allow military aid to foriegn countries.

  • Allied Powers

    Allied Powers
    Positive Impact During World War 2, USA and the USSR teamed up against a common enemy. They united against Germany and Japan. This was positive because being allies allowed them to send supplies and messages of cooperation. Cooperation help them to defeat Nazi Germany. Without the work of the USSR on the East Front, it would have been very difficult to overcome Germany. The same goes the other way around. Because they were allies the US gave them supplies under the lend-lease.

    Negative Impact On October 12, 1960 Nikita Krushchev wished to speak in a UN meeting. It seemed as though he was being ingnored by Frederik Boland. So he both raised his hand and stood up... still no aknoledgment from the chair. Eventually he got so frustrated that he took of his shoe and banged it on the table.

  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Cuban Missile Crisis
    Negative Impact USA put nuclear bombs in Turkey and aimed them at Russia. As a result Russia put bombs in Cuba and aimed them at the US. The US set up a blockade to prevent Russia from getting there. Russia said they will ignore the blockade and that if it wasn't moved it would be war. The president talks to Russia and they agree that they will take down the blockade and bombs if Russia takes down their bombs. This was the closest we have ever come to nuclear war.

  • Space Cooperation

    Space Cooperation
    In 1975, the USSR and USA combined their satelites to make a better satelite. This marked the end of the space race. This was a positive affect in the US and USSR relationship because them working together helped to end the Cold War. The spacce cooperation saves both of them money.
