Mission San Francisco
The purpose of this missions is to convert local Native Americans to Christianity. The government led the missions. It was affiliated by the Roman Catholics. They were not succesful, because they all dies from disease. They failed because they kept dying. The Alamo protected it. -
Moses Austin asks permission for a colony
Moses was given permission only if he will be responsible with the new settlements coming into his colony. He was expected to bring 300 families into ihis colony. He couldn't finish his plan because he died from phomoneia, so he passed on the plan to his son SFA. -
Lousiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase was a land deal between the United States and France, in which the U.S. acquired approximately 827,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi River for $15 million dollars. President Thomas Jefferson wrote this prediction in a letter to Pierre Samuel du Pont. As the United States had expanded westward, navigation of the Mississippi River and access to the port of New Orleanes. Spain and France still claimed land. -

Stephen F. Austin establishes a colony
An empresario is a person who had been granted the right to settle on Mexican land in exchange for taking responsibility of new settlers. His colony was in Southeast Texas. His father traveled to Spanish Texas and received an empresarial grant that would allow him to bring 300 American families to Texas. Soon his father died from phenomena and passed his plan to SFA. In 1825, SFA had brought the first 300 families to his settlement , these 300 are known in Texas history as the Old Three Hundred. -
Fredonian Rebelion
The Fredonian Rebellion was the first attempt by Anglo settlers in Texas to secede from Mexico. The settlers were led by Empresario Haden Edwards and declared independence from Mexican Texas. They created the Republic of Fredonia near Nacogdoches. The Edward brothers were upset with Guadelupe Victoria. They failed the Rebelion, but made a peace treaty to Mexico. -
Mier y Teran Report
The goal was to lead a scientific boundary expedition so he can observe natural resources and Indians, discover American attitudes, and determine the boundry between the Sabine and red rivers. It was sent because Texas needs closer trade ties with Mexico and to encourage more settlers from Mexico and Europe. The recommendation was for U.S not to take over Texas. -

The law didn't want U.S immigration salves brought into Mexico, empress rio contact. They wanted new fort, Mexican and European immigration. -

The goal was to repeal the anti-immigration, provide better Indian deffense, improve mail service, and more. William H. Martin and Sam Houston were included. -
Austin arrested
He was arrested because he was accused of insurrection in Texas. Even after he is released he is still tolled that an alliance is the best option but after the revolution starts he took control for the independence of Texas from Mexico. -

A siege is a military operation in which enemy forces surround a town or building. The Mexican controlled San Antonio befor the seige. Stephen F. Austin controlled San Antonio after the siege. -
The Alamo Falls
James Bowie, William B. Travis, Davy Crockett volunteered in the Alamo and were defenders. The Alamo had about 260 defender but Mexico had 1800 soldiers. It was a Mexican victory until Sam Houston came to finish the war. Sam Houston waited until he went to fight with his soldiers because he thought his troop wasn't ready and there wasn't enough for war yet. -

They established the declaration of independence and the constitution. -
Golliad Massacre
Fannin surrendered in the battle of Coleto. Santa Anna ordered Fannins men. 342 men were killed in the massacre. -
Runaway Scrape
They were moving east. The goal was to get to Sam Houston imaginative battlefield. They were frightened that death would come their way because Santa Anna was chasing after them for execution. They thought Sam Houston was being a coward for running away from Santa Anna and his army. Soon Sam Houston found the perfect battlefield and was ready to fight. -
The Battle of Jacinto
They cried out "remember the Alamo" and "remember the Golliad". About 630 Mexicans were killed and 730 captured but only 9 Texans died. Santa Anna noticed that they were losing, so he tried to run away. Then Santa knew he couldn't get away so he dressed up like a Mexican soldier. The Texans were very vicious because they killed very quickly and some Mexican even surrendered on just how frightened they were. -

A filibuster is a person engaging in unauthorized war or conflict against a foreign country. Other filibusters were Jean La fitte and .Jean Lafitte was a French American pirate and a filibuster because he caused war and conflict against others. -

Fort St. Louis is near th Mangola Bay. La Salle found Fort St. Louis. They died from the Karawana Indians and. La Salle was murdered by his own expedition, because of all the trouble. -
Marcus De Rubi inspect Texas
Rubi's mission was to inspect remedy and economic abuses.he was sent by King Carlos III. He reccomended Spain to reorganize the frontier defenses. Rubi advised that only San Antonia and Sante Fe can be maintained.
