  • The Federation Of Australia

    The Federation Of Australia
    This event is a turning point in Australian history because it was the moment Australia became an independent nation. The British Parliament decided to allow the six Australia colonies (New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania) to superintend their rights in the relation to the Commonwealth of Australia.
  • Crack

    Crack
    In the early 1900’s the use of crack (crack cocaine) was abused in America. Public health officials were startled by social, medical and psychiatric issues related to the drug. After excessive concern from legal authorities and health professionals, the Harrison Narcotic Act 1914 was put into place. This act brought the attention of the restricted legality of substances and caused the extensive use to drop by the 1930’s.

    The World War Debut

    On the 1st of August 1914, Russia and Germany declared war against eachother. At the same time; Russia, France and Great Britain became Triple Entente alliance. The central powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire) fought against the Allied powers (Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan and the United States) after the assassination of Austrian Archduke, Franz Ferdinand which triggered a chain of events that led to the deceleration of World War 1.
  • Gallipoli

    Gallipoli
    During WW1 an allied attack between the British Empire with French Forces against the Ottoman Empire and Germany on the Gallipoli peninsula. This attacks was caused by a campaign advocating to break the deadlock between the Western Front and Eastern Front and to also help the Russians. On the 25th British soldiers and the ANZAC's landed. After being landed in the wrong places and having to had wait for a Turkish attack it caused a trench warfare and the allied forces lost.
  • Roaring 20's

    During this time in the 1920's, the mass production industry in the U.S grew larger and larger and regular middle-class families were able to buy more and more things. People continuously bought on credit, the stock market eventually crashed on the 20th of October 1929 (aka Black Tuesday) which was the beginning of the Great Depression. Positively, The 19th Amendment was corroborated in the 1920's giving women the right to vote. Women began taking on new roles as part of their independence.
  • Penicillin

    Penicillin
    Professer of Bacteriology, Alexander Fleming discovered the first antibiotic in St Mary's Hospital in London. The antibiotic was a lab mishap, the discovery of it was an accident after coming back from a trip in Scotland and sorting through his laboratory at the hospital. Surely enough, the drug was produced in substantial amounts and was used throughout World War 2

    Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)

    SIV (Simian Immunodeficiency Virus from Chimpanzees) -> HIV -> AIDS. In Cameroon and Congo, men were hunting for chimps & got in contact with their infected blood which transferred the SIV to HIV to humans. These countries were colonised by the French, the French made the men railroad workers. If their men got sick their was only six handmade syringes to use as they were hard to make, the disease began transmitting through thousands of people. Slavery to America brought along the disease.

    The Holocaust

    During WW2 and the prejudice Hilter and the Nazi's had against the Jews, it caused many inhumane acts. Adolf Hilter at the time believed that should only be one race, the Aryan. Blonde, blue eyes and tall. Due to this, he basically annihilated the Jewish race, sending them to concentration camps & ghettos to live to be killed. Approximately six million Jews died in these places from being in gas chambers, being guinea pigs for doctors and basically not having fundamental access to necessities.

    The World War Sequel

    World War II began because of Germany (Nazi's + Adolf Hitler) invading Poland which then caused Britain and France to declare war Germany on the 3rd of September 1939. In 1941, Japan decided to attack Pearl Harbour which was a naval base in Hawaii triggering the U.S to join the war. In the last year of the war the U.S dropped two deadly atomic bombs in Nagasaki and Hiroshima (Japanese cities) to not only to impress the Russians but to cause the Japanese to surrender.
  • The Invasion of Normandy

    The Invasion of Normandy
    The Invasion of Normandy also know as D-Day was a turning point in Europe during World War II. It was caused by Britain, France, America and Canada attacking Germany of the coast of Normandy in France. The allied forces won the attack with a force of 150,000 soldiers.
  • North/South Korea

    North/South Korea
    Before World War 2, Korea was one country; but post war, it became North and South. North Korea became a Communist dictatorship by the Soviet Union and Communist China (Red China). A war broke out after North Korea attacked South Korea, and with the the UN (United Nations) involved themselves on the basis of protecting South Korea.

    Montgomery Bus Boycott

    A 42 year old African-American woman named, Rosa Parks, was arrested on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama for refusing to vacate the seat she was sitting on. She was arrested on the 1st of December 1955 because the seat was assigned to Caucasian passengers. After her arrest, African-Americans went on a boycott and refused to ride busses, this went on for a year.

    School Integration

    From 1957 through to 1964 many African-American civilians fought for the rights to be admitted into High Schools and Universities. Little Rock Central High School in Arkansa (1957), New Orlean's public schools (1960), University of Georgia and Georgia Tech (1961), University of Mississippi (1962), University of Alabama (1963) and lastly the New York School Boycott (1964) which ended a "de facto segregation."

    Soviet-Afghan War

    A year before the war began, Afghanistan was over ruled by a Soviet supported communist organisation which initiated the new government, which was called the the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan. Some Afghani's didn't agree with this communist group because it went against their religion so they formed a group named the Mujahideen. The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan and began the war when they believed President Amin was confiding to the American Government, so they invaded and killed him.
  • Political Prisoner

    Political Prisoner
    On this date, Nelson Mandela, also known as the activist and leader of anti-apartheid movement in South Africa, was finally freed from prison by President Frederik Willem de Klerk. After 27 years of being trapped in a prison for having expressed his humane beliefs, the government released him due to pressure and the possibility of a racial civil war.
