Completion of Transcontinental Railroad
Transcontinental Railroad was a 1,900 mile long railroad that took between 1863-1869 to complete. This railroad was built because of the Pacific Railroad Act in 1862. The Pacific railroad act brought the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroad companies together to complete this railroad. The transcontinental railroad linked the United States form east to west. -

The Panama Canal is very significant because of how much it shortened travel time for some countries. Instead of going all the way around the bottom of South America, the canal allowed ships to cut through North and South America. Without the panama canal being built, travel would not be convenient at all. -
