Blue Ash, Kentucky- The Escape
Samuel breaks a plate and is forced to sleep without a blanket and hungry. Harrion tells Samuel to sleep with an eye open. That same night Harrison and Samuel escape from Master Hackler's farm. They use onions to cover there scent from the dogs. Harrison has a sack full of stolen items from his masters. By morning there masters were searching for them and they hid out in a tree until they were gone. Samuel hears the story of his mama being sold. -

The Escape

Blue Ash Kentucky- Tree
After spending the night in a tree while it's raining, Samuel thinks he feels somebody watching them and starts to run around causing him and Harrison to be very lost. Harrion begins to call for a women named Belle, he is delusional. Samuel worries about being caught. -
Spiders and Candles
Harrison and Samuel make there way from a shrub filled with spiders to the River Jordan. When they reach the river they meet the River Man, the River Man offers to take Harrion and Samuel across the river. A lady comes screaming and running from what seems to be her white masters, the River Man lets her in his boat. After a while she starts to sob and annoys the River Man, the river man pushed her out of the boat and keeps moving across the river. -
A Widow and A Cellar
The River Man brought them to an old widows cellar. They stayed there for two days, they ate and slept, the night of the second day the widow brought them to a church, there they met Reverend Pry and Mr. Keephart. Reverend Pry and Mr. Keephart let them stay on rows of seats in the church overnight then in the morning a women came to get them. -
Ham, Eggs, & Ms. Kettle
Samuel and Harrion meet a family. Their names are Ham, Eggs, and Ms.Kettle. Ms. Kettle takes Samuel and Harrison to Eggs, he makes th boys hold the fish and pretend there free. He takes them to a shed that is owned by Green Murdock and they learn bad news. -
Fever
Green Murdock was guessing Samuel and Harrisons future and they got an 'Ace of Spades', Green Murdock said that was bad. Harrison woke up the next morning with a fever. Green Murdock rushed them out of his house to take them to the next spot and they ended up at Negro Hollow. -
Negro Hollow
When they got to Negro Hollow two nice people Belle and August, let Samuel and Harrison stay while Harrison was sick. Samuel found things out from his past that he didn't know about it, like that Harrison is his grandfather, and how Harrison got caught the first time he escaped. After about a week of Harrison being sick, the snow was coming. Not weather kind of snow, snow was a term used to say that white people were coming and August decided to let Samuel and Harrison go on a train to Canada. -
The Train
August gets Harrison and Samuel safely on a train and they met a man who goes by Ordee Lee and he tells them about his family and how he escaped. They are heading to Canada on the train with Ordee Lee, heading to freedom. -
The Docks
When Samuel, Harrison, and Ordee make it to Canada they have to act like they are free and working on the docks. A man, or patrol gaurd, ask to see there "Free Papers". They start to panic, until the owner of the docks comes and lets Samuel get by with lying to them with Ordee's paper that he had in his pocket. The man lets them go and now they are free. -
Freedom
After a few years of freedom Harrison dies, Ordee becomes a welder, and Samuel lives his mother. Samuel writes a journal about everything that has happened up into his freedom. Now he lives a happy life with his mother.
