Arriving at the Dorms in Surrey
After a 45 minute ride from the airport after a 7 hour flight, we arrived tired but ready to explore our new surroundings. After three hours I was ready to hit the hay! If you look close, I am wayyyyyyyyyy in the back! -
First Day of Class
Our first day saw a lot of tired folks but an excitment to go out into the city! -
Took a cool busride into London
Hung out to take a quick sightsee on public transportation! -
Charles Dickens Museum, 48 Doughty St.
It is Dickens' 200th birthday, so the museum is getting ready to celebrate. -
Garfunkel's on Northumberland Ave.
Best medium-rare steak ever! -
Tubing into Clandon & Woking
Went into town today to sightsee! What a busy city; and if you do not keep up, you find yourself in the back of a large crowd. -
Winchester, England
On High St. I saw the most amazing ruins of a castle that once was. I attempted to sit in the window, but it was just a wall! -
Winchester Cathedral
What an amazing church. Coffins of the prients were under the floorboards and the attention to detail of coffins, walls and pews was magnificent! Artifacts were everywhere and Jane Austin is buried there as well. I lit a candle and prayed for this experience. -
Church & Sunday Picnic
Today some of the group went to church and what a wonderful experience. Afterwards we had a picnic on the University of Surrey grounds with dr. Pritchard. -
Westminster Abbey
Today was another day in the historical area, viewing museums, reading and seeing all types of sights. One that was most interesting was Westminster--just to see areas involving Shakespheare, Shelly and various playwrights and poets was inspirational. -
Jane Austin House in Chawton
Went to Chawton today and walked through the home of Jane Austin. I was more interested in the grounds, which had green lawns, flocks of sheep, stallions and old barns. -
TGI Friday in London!
Hung out at TGI Friday today! We had a great time talking about our experience and sharing information about teaching, family school life, a CRAZY happenings on our excursions! -
Post Office
The post office was another hot landmark where a student can take care of a wide array of activities, including mailing postage or simply buying a hot meal for those last night study sessions. Postcards cost 76 pence to send! -
Eating at Surrey
Many times I tried new foods like Gammon steak and eggs; but I went back to my old ways and ordered American pizza from an Iranian called Pizzaman! I would sing to this man and he enjoyed the group's company.
