Factories
As people produce more and more, people need to create more factories. This leads to more carbon dioxide entering our atmosphere and some even goes into the ocean. Humans need to reduce their carbon footprint and this wouldn't be as big a problem. -
Acid in the Ocean
Over time more and more acid is entering the ocean. This is making our oceans more acidic, which is very bad for the environment. All this carbon dioxide is also causing the ocean to become hotter. -
Effects on the Ocean
In the ocean their is a chemical called calcium carbonate. Dissolved carbon dioxide basically get rid of this chemical from the ocean. This can cause a lot of harm to sea creatures and other animals with shells. -
Effects on Animals
Animals like coral and sea urchins use calcium carbonate to make up their shells. Since the carbon dioxide takes all the calcium carbonate, the creatures have to work harder to get the needed materials to make their shells. This makes animals weaker and harder for them to survive. -
Effects on Humans
Humans will slowly have less food over the years. Sea animals like mussels and clams will go extinct and humans will no longer be able to eat them. In some countries people depend on these animals to survive, so they would end up starving. -
How we can fix it
If we can lower our carbon footprints we won't have to worry about these problems. We could do this by finding healthier ways to do stuff that doesn't pollute as much. We could also drive electric cars and use less fossil fuels. Then we won't even have to worry about any of this.
