Trends in the Ocean

  • Abiotic factors of an Ecosystem

    Abiotic factors of an Ecosystem
Lots of abiotic factors are in the ecosystem like water, sand, etc. A really significant one is carbon dioxide. Many things are affected by carbon dioxide. Although it is significant it isn't the only abiotic factor in ocean trends. Others include pH level of water, ocean temperature, and acidity. Ocean trends include many abiotic factor.
  • Fossil Fuels

    Fossil Fuels
One of the most impactful abiotic factor is carbon dioxide. When burning fossil fuels, it releases carbon dioxide. The burning of fossil fuels occurs way too often and as often as everyday. Due to this it has many impacts on earth.
  • Increased Carbon Dioxide

    Increased Carbon Dioxide
Throughout the years CO2 levels have increased drastically. Fossil fuels are why this is happening. Since humans are burning fossil fuels it has increased the CO2 levels drastically and its not good. With the high CO2 levels, it will keep impacting ecosystems and earth.
  • Dissolved Carbon Dioxide decreasing pH of the ocean and Causing Acidification

Dissolved Carbon Dioxide decreasing pH of the ocean and Causing Acidification
Since CO2 levels are increasing, pH levels are decreasing. CO2 levels are lowering the amount of pH levels and therefore making the oceans more acidic. When there's more dissolved CO2 in the ocean it makes it harder for animals to live.
  • Sea Life being affected by Ocean Acidification

Sea Life being affected by Ocean Acidification
Sea life is drastically affected by ocean acidification. It affects animals such as calcifiers and corals. Amongst those animals the sea urchin is most greatly affected by it. Ocean acidification prevents them from growing, weakens their shells, and could even kill the sea urchins. This happens to lots of animals and its not good. An increase in CO2 is causing this.
  • Summary

    Summary
The similarity between coyotes in the city and sea life is humans. As humans we are affecting both of their habitats. The affects we are doing are making a negative impact. For example we are building in coyotes habitats as well as making oceans more acidic(making it harder for sea animals to live). We need to make a change because this is not good. Humans need to not destroy animals habitats and decrease CO2 levels.
