The 1920s were years of modernization and expansion. Trains were equipped with automatic sliding doors and new buses had enclosed top decks and pneumatic tires, The underground was extened to the North and South whilst busy stations like Piccadilly Circus were rebuilt with escalators and larger booking halls to cope with passenger numbers.
