The monroe doctrine makes other european powers aware that latin and central america are off limits and this is the US's backdoor. This essentially is making sure that if there is a land grab possibility they will be the only ones able to get it and not chance it to the europeans. -
China and Britain clash in the Opium War
Britain has been exporting popee seed extracts which become opium which is a very addictive drug which it has been lucrativley selling to the Chineese. The chineese people are outraged because now there are drug addicts every where. The Chineese decided to declare was and get there buts kicked. It is worth noting the battle was fought mostly at sea. -
Commodore Perry enters Tokyo Harbor
In 1853 US Commodore Perry enters Japaneese waters with four steamships which until now the isolated primitive Japaneese are completley frightened by. As if Iran has spceships and flys over to the UN in a spaceship. We are going to be scared our socks off because of the superior technology, so then DARPA will fund a project to modernize our space war technology. Which is what happened with the Japaneese they modernized after being intimidated by the united states. -
US wins Spanish American War
Juarez invites Texans to move to mexican lands as long as they pledge alleigence to spain. The texans move in and sure enough our not loyal to either side and want independnce. The US seeing this easy land grab oppurtunity to get texas sends troops to fight and kicks the Spanish but and by declaring war annexed texas gaining that territory as well as the treaty of guadalupe hidalgo which got most of the western united states as we know it today. -
Mexican Revolution begins
With the liberal ideas of La Reforma put away by the cuadillo leader Diaz people are angered and Madero begins the miilitary rebellion with Emiliano Zapata who was more on the poilitical side and Pancho Villa who was the thug and shot up american towns. This revolution also led the the creation of the constituion in which the La-Reofrma ideas were implemented with conditions though that is a different story. -
Panama Canal Opens
The panama canal which would improve shipping times and save companies money for shipping from pacific to atlantic. Initially started by the french but as the french suck it ws abandoned and the US takes over with Theeodore Rosevelt as president and subcontracts the work to locals, chineese, and the people overseeing the whole operation were ok. It was a expensive project but they got it done and the US got to keep rights for it for 99 years from the columbians who governed panama.
