  • French & Indian War

    The French & Indian war was apart of the 7 year war. The war was a dispute of land between the French and Native people about who owns the Ohio River Valley.
  • Pontiac's Rebellion

    Another War that was apart of the 7 year war. This war was a conflict between the British and various native groups such as the Iroquoians.
  • Proclamation Line of 1763

    The British made a line in the Appalachian mountains that would restrict colonist from going further west.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act was created by the British to tax printed good in the colonies. Taxation without representation.
  • Declaratory Act

    This act helped to prove that the British had every right to tax the colonist. This was just to gain even more power over them.
  • Tea Act

    The British Eat India Company had a monopoly on tea production and sales in the colonies.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The colonist protested on taxation without representation and threw large amounts of tea in the Boston harbor.
  • First Continental Congress

    A meeting of the13 delegates from each of the colonies to be unified. Georgia did not attend.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Like the First Continental Congress the 13 delegates came from each colony. In this one they would support the American Revolution in order to gain independence from the British.
  • Declaration of Independence

    A paper that would declare independence from the British and what the new US would look like.
  • Articles of Confederation

    A sort of draft of how the US would run. This gave a lot of power to the states rather than the federal government.
  • Treaty of Paris

    It brought an end to the American Revolution. This would give the US more control of the East and start the process of westward expansion.
  • Constitutional Convention

    For a period of time a bunch of white wealthy men gathered in a room to draft the constitution and the three branches of the government.
  • Northwest Ordinance of 1787

    The creation of new territory in the Northwest and rules and acts that would bring more states into the union.
  • Constitution

    A guide book of how the US runs and how the political system works.
  • Ratification of the US

    The constitution was now in motion and the three branches of the government were up and running.
  • Whisky Rebellion

    A protest against the tax on whisky it was the he first protest against the federal government. The rebellion was large and violent.
  • Proclamation of Neutrality

    George Washington did not want to interfere with European conflicts so he backed out because the US was not yet strong enough politically, economical, or in any other way yet.
  • Jay's Treaty

    A treaty between the US and British that would make British ships leave the western frontier.
  • Pinckney's Treaty

    A treaty with Spain that would give the US full access to the Mississippi river.
  • Washington's Farewell Adress

    The era of Washington was ending and he presented a speech. He did not want the US to go into more conflicts or create political parties... But the US did the exact opposite.
  • XYZ Affair

    A diplomatic affair between the US and France that would later lead to the Quasi-War.
  • Alien & Sedation Acts

    This act restricted rights and speech of immigrants in the US. This would also include people born from immigrants.
  • Kentucky & Virginia Acts

    A set of acts that would conflict with the Alien & Sedation Acts. It would emphasize the constitution and its rules of freedom of speech and of the press.
  • Election of 1800

    An election in 1800 in which Thomas Jefferson would win against John Adams. This would cause a two party system.
