    In antiquity, the ancestors of the *Nigrito people lived in the Philippines area, these people spoke *Austronesian Languages, and practiced *Shamanism(religious phenomenon based on the shaman,) and *Ancestor Worship(the concept of venerating deceased ancestors.). One example of a Nigrito group is the *Andamanese people. One example of an Austronesian language is Tagalog. The Nigrito People practiced shamanism by believing the *Shaman had super natural-like powers.

    Malay People

    Around 2000 years ago the Malay people began migrating from Indonesia, these people coming to the Philippines impacted the languages and ethnicities of the Philippines. The earliest Malay people to arrive organized themselves into *Barangaysgroups(a small territory forming the most local form of government) district or communities. Each group/community had a ruler called a *Datu or a Chieftain. The Datu role was mainly passed down from family but could be obtained in other ways occasionally.

    SPANISH CONQUER AND CHRISTIANIZE THE PHILIPPINES

    In 1521 the *Spaniards conquered the Philippino region and later *Christianized the Philippino region. The first time of contact between the Philippines and the Spaniards was in 1521 when the Spaniards came to the Philippines and claimed the islands as a colony of Spain. Later in 1565 upon the arrival of Miguel Lopez de Legaspi, Christianity was introduced into the Philippines. The Spaniards taught Christianity to the more northern islands since the southern islands still practiced Islam.

    English introduced

    In the late 1700s, British colonizers invaded the Philippines, this impacted the language of the Philippines because at the time the Filipino people spoke old Tagalog. This was the first time English was introduced into the Philippines, once the British colonization was over every Filipino continued to speak what they spoke before. Almost every person spoke old Tagalog until the US colonial occupation and *civil regime. This is the time the US fully introduced English to the Philippines.

    Today, the main ethnicity in the Philippines is *Tagalog, these people speak *Filipino, English, and 10% speak Malay and practice *Christianity. Most of the Tagalog people are of Taiwanese descent and moved during the *Iron age(1200 BCE-600 BCE). Most of these people speak Filipino which is a more advanced version of the old language Tagalog. About 92% of the population in the Philippines practice Christianity which was introduced by Spain in 1565 after the arrival of Miguel Lopez de Legaspi
