  • Pennsylvania Sate

    During the beginning of education in the year 1790 the state of Pennsylvania constitution agreed that education had to be free. Education in this year was only free for the poor. Any other child that was wealthy had to pay their education. The poor was positively affected by this because they didn't have to worry about paying for education. As well as having the opportunity to get an education.
  • New York Public School Society

    New York Public School Society
    In the year 1805 their was not enough teachers to teach the students. The New York Public School Society was created by a group of rich man who educated the students. Teaching style was whatever the older students learned, they had to teach that same thing to the younger students (Historical Timeline of Public Education in the US,2018). This style of teaching affected every child because they all learned at different rates..
  • Slaves and Education

    During this time period education was becoming something important, but not everyone was legible to get it. Especially slaves that lived in the Southern States. States from the south created laws that prohibited anyone from teaching slaves. This affected the black population because they where illiterate. Which impacted their future later on because they didn't know how to read or write.
  • Department of Education

    In the year 1867 The Department of Education was formed to provide states the help needed to create a productive school system. This was a great help for teachers back than and now. It impacted teachers in a way that they didn't feel like they had to do everything on their own. They had something besides them leading them towards a better school to provide the education students need.
  • Professions

    In the beginning of education the main reason why students attended schools was because the education was focus specifically for agriculture or how to open a small business. Things change during this time period because new profession arose. For example people wanting to become lawyers and doctors. This impacted their communities because it meant that people where actually getting required training to perform their duties the right way.
  • Plessy v. Ferguson

    This year had a negative impact in education due to racism. The Plessy v. Ferguson became known due to the unjustified treatment that color students received in education. The law stated that separation was okay, that all that matter was that everyone received the same tools need for their education. Which was not true because color schools did not have the proper utilities that where needed in their classrooms or in the schools.
  • Horace Mann

    Horace Mann
    Horale Mann was an educator who traveled around the world to get a view point of teaching. During his journey he gathered information that will soon become the way to separate age into grade levels. He noticed that in other countries schools put students in a grade level depending on how old they were. His findings are the reason why our grade level depends on how old we are.
  • Brown v. The Board of Education, Topeka

    Brown v. The Board of Education, Topeka
    Is not until this year that the Supreme Court came into conclusion that segregated schools are not being treated equally as they said and appeared to be. This findings also help the Supreme Court decided to eradicate segregation in schools. The decision was made but it was hard to put into work. Many of the schools that had only white students did not like this proposition.
  • Higher Education Act

    This time period was the time in which the U.S Congress pass the Higher Education act which made going to college or university easier. This was a system that helped/helps with loans and getting scholarships. Having this legislation has greatly helped the pass generations and the future generation. The Higher Education Act is allowing each generation to have the opportunity to further their education without worrying about how they will pay for college or university.
  • Title IX

    The Tiitle IX helped prevent any type of sex discrimination inside schools or any education facility that is being assisted financially by the government. Having a law that helps many students from being discriminated by faculties or peers was a positive impact in schools. Students can report any type of discrimination and get the help they need. Especially women students that have or had experience sex discrimination in school grounds.
  • Education for all Handicapped Children Act

    Education for all Handicapped Children Act
    Schools receiving federal funds have to provide programs for the handicapped students. This help students with any type of disability have the opportunity to get an education. The needs of the students are ment by providing lesson plans depending on what they need help with. Through out the years this act has made a change in the way special students receive their education.
  • Plyler v. Doe

    Before the case plyer v. Doe their was a law that prohibited immigrant children from attending public schools. Plyler was against this and wanted to make a change by taking it up to courts. At the end it was decided that every child including immigrant children can assist to public schools without being questioned. Since then many immigrant students have the opportunity to attend school no matter their immigration status.
  • Red for ED

    Teachers do so much work for our students, including spending their own money to buy any materials that are needed. Teachers were feed up with not being paid enough and fundings in schools. This is when West Virginia teachers went on strike demanding a 5% raise and better fundings. After successfully receiving what they demanded other states started to do the same (Arizona, Oklahoma and Kentucky).
