    The War -1
    Britain has declared war on Germany and since Canada is a colony with Britain they participated in the war to help defeat Germany and Germany's allies.
  • Battle Of Ypres -1

    Battle Of Ypres -1
    This was the first real battle that Canada was in during this war.
    The Germans released 160 tons of chlorine gas over their trenches, this caused some french troops to die or run away from it. Over 130,000 people died from the battle, but at the end the
    British won.
  • Conscription -2

    Prime Minister Borden introduced a new law that required men aged 20-45 to go to war. Prime Minister Borden made this law because after the Vimy Ridge battle, Canada lost a lot of soldiers. He promised to Britain that he would send another 250,000-500,00 soldiers to war. Obviously a lot of Canadians were mad at Borden for forcing them to go to war when they didn't want any business with it.

    Halifax Explosion -2
    A lot of people would spend their time in Halifax because that was where business was booming. But on December 6 1917, a collision happened. A Norwegian ship carrying war items and a French ship carrying explosive supplies collided with each other. Both ship's had confusion while trying to cross each other, this led to an explosion. Over 1500 people were instantly killed, while over 100s died from injuries.

    Around 60,000 to 70,000 Canadians never came home. 17,000 were hurt physically and psychologically. Consequences for Canada's actions started to pile up. The conscription crisis was still here for the English and French relations. There was a lack of available jobs when the war ended. The Spanish flu killed over 50,000 Canadiens right after the war. Prime Minister Borden made a law where woman age 21 and older can vote but some woman of colour were not able to vote.

    World War 1 had finally came to an end and that means business and industries were booming like never before. Radios started to become apart of society. Helpful technologies were being made. There were some minor changes in parliament hill. One woman named Agnes Macphail's was elected to parliament hill. Overall Canada had a lot of changes in their economic, social and political movements and etc.

    There were 3 representative for this election. W. L. Mackenzie King was the party leader for the liberal. Thomas Crerar was the party leader for the progressive party. Arthur Meighen was party leader for the Conservative party. The liberals came in 1st with 118 seats. The progressive party came in 2nd with 58 seats. The conservative party came in last with 49 seats, the conservative party also lost 104 seats. W. L. Mackenzie King went on to be one of the best prime minster Canada has ever had.

    The Chanak Affair was a war scare from the Turkish. The Turkish were threatening British troops in Turkey after WW1. But thankfully William Lyon Mackenzie King declined to provide military support to Britain and this was where Canada was starting to become a more independent country,

    This treaty was an agreement between the US and Canada on fishing rights for the Pacific Ocean. The point of this treaty was for environmental purposes and fish stock. Canada became more focus on its economics after the treaty was signed. The US would eventually be Canada's largest trading partner.

    This was one of the biggest moments in Canadian history. The privacy council concluded that "the word persons" does include woman. This means that woman were finally able to be eligible to become members of the Senate of Canada. This is a big moment for woman because a lot of woman in Canada have tried reversing this narrative but they couldn't.
