    Picture Citation The Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian War. With the British colonies as the winners.Marked the end of Frances power in North America. Now the territory was divided between Great Britian and Spain.
  • Boston Massacre

    A fight broke out between the colonists and British soldier’s. Colonists threw sticks and stones. British opened fire when a soldier was knocked down. British killed 5 colonists. Colonists boycotted more goods. Parliament repealed the Townshend acts. Except the one on tea.

    Picture Citation Parliament passed the Stamp Act to raise money. This act placed money on all printed goods, such as newspapers, pamphlets, wills, and paper. All of the items that were taxed affected almost everyone in the colonies.

    Picture Citation Colonists would not tolerate being taxed in the colonies, new taxes were applied to imported goods. Items taxed were thing the colonists had to import, like glass, tea, paper, and lead. Colonists learned to do without these imported goods.

Closed Boston Harbor, banned town meetings, and allowed British officers to be tried in different colonies.

    Picture Citation 1st Continental Congress- Colonial leaders realized that they needed to work together. 55 delegates met in Philadelphia to discuss problems with Britain. Some people who attended: John Adams, John Jay, Richard Henry Lee, Patrick Henry, George Washington.

    It was the "Shot Heard Around The World". The start of a revolution. When the British arrived at Concord's Old North Bridge militia men were waiting for them. The militiamen fired at British from behind rocks and trees. 174 wounded 73 dead

    Picture Citation Met and declared that independence from Britain was a long way away. Some people that were there were from the first meeting in 1774 and some new faces appeared at the 2nd meeting. Some new faces were:Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Hancock.
