    Standard Oil was very important because it became a monopoly just as big as the railroad industry. It also was a big factor in enabling transportation. It was very important because Rockefeller started with nothing. This is a large example of the possibility of successful entrepreneurship and capitalism.

    Completion of the Transcontinental Railroad
    This was a big deal in history because it was a new form of on land transportation. It made transportation much easier compared to the wagon, which people used before railroads. The completion of the Transcontinental Railroad motivated westward expansion and growth of the country.

    The invention of the light bulb was important because it was an advancement in technology and made life easier for everybody. Although the the concept of man made light and electricity is taken for granted now, it was amazing when it was invented. It also did things such as provide heat or direct traffic.

    The Tenement Act was important because it helped the lives of many immigrants or people in poverty. Tenements were run down and unsafe buildings that people lived in. The tenement act made it illegal to construct unsafe or poorly ventilated tenements.

    This was an significant because at this time in politics, the progressive movement was large. Roosevelt did a lot for this movement as he believed in improving living conditions, industry and manufacturing laws, reserved national parks, etc. He was so well liked that he was elected for two terms.

    The production of the Model T was significant because it was the first car invented. Although, the car was expensive, at about $850 (about $18,000 dollars today). During the process of manufacturing this car, the assembly line was invented, which is still used to this day.

    The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire was a big deal because it was the deadliest industrial disaster in New York City history. This changed a lot of rules when it came to factory safety. At this time, working conditions were very unsafe, which is what caused there to be 146 casualties.

    The Panama Canal was an important factor in the ease of transportation. It was made to decrease the distance that needed to be traveled when passing between the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. It saved money, time, and was a much safer route.

    Women got the right to vote.
    Women getting the right to vote was a huge deal because it was the first step to gender equality. At this time, women usually weren't allowed to vote and often times were never accepted for jobs outside of manual labor. The right for women to vote is significant because it effected women to this day. We now have women in office and even running for president.
