Sugar and Molasses Act
In 1764 the British put a law in taxation forced for six pence per gallon that became the Sugar act. In 1733 the British put a big tax on the sugar from the West Indians to the American colonies. So the purpose was for them to buy from the Britain. -
Currency Act
Paper money issues because there was no more gold and silver so the colonies wanted to make their own money. Then new paper money was made from the old bills. -
Stamp Act
This was all done on paper (documents) , a tax that every piece of print paper had. This became a direct tax on the colonist. -
Quartering Act of 1765
Where the British saved up money by the soldiers living in the colonies house, and them paying for water etc. This was a way for British to built up strength. -
Townshend Acts
Where the colonies got taxed on tea, glass and lead, paints, paper. People saw it as a abuse of the relationship they had, they also thought the parliament had no right to put them taxes. -
Boston Tea Party
The sons of liberty empty the tea onto Boston Harbor. The colonist were mad and didn't want to pay tax to the British. This was all for they could go to England and not paid anything. -
Intolerable Acts
This was meant to punish Massachusetts but it affect Boston. This was for the British to have more control over the colonies. -
First Continental Congress
A congress only 12 colonies went and wanted a compact among the colonies. Also to put tax on the British goods, this made new taxes and organize the colonies. -
Lexington/Concord
The British went from from Boston to Concord for arms cache. The British wanted to take the weapons Concord had. -
Proclamation of 1763
The purpose was to stop the Native American from being angry and checking the encroachment of their land. -
Boston Massacre
The people were mad because of the tax on tea etc and they were in a crowd throwing rock with snows. They were also harassing the soldiers, the soldiers let losses and killed about 5 persons.
