Overhead Projectors
Overhead projectors were introduced into U.S. military training during World War II. After the war they were used at schools like the U.S. Military Academy. White boards
A whiteboard is any glossy, usually white surface for nonpermanent markings. Early whiteboards needed to be wiped with a damp cloth and markers had a tendency to leave marks behind, even after erasing the board. -
TI Invents Handheld Calculator
Texas Instruments invented the first hand-held pocket calculator in 1966, and a basic patent for the miniature electronic calculators was issued to them in 1974. -
Altair-first "microcomputer"
The small, relatively inexpensive “microcomputer”–soon known as the “personal computer”–was born in 1974. The company Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems (MITS) introduced a mail-order build-it-yourself computer kit called the Altair. The year after the start of Microsoft, two engineers in Silicon Valley named Steve Jobs and Stephen Wozniak built a homemade computer the Apple I. This computer had more memory, a cheaper microprocessor and a monitor with a screen. -
First "Smart Phone"
In 1999, a smartphone was released by Qualcomm. The pdQ smartphone, featured a Palm PDA with the ability to connect to the internet. Smartphone technology continued to advance throughout the early 2000s.
