The potato famine killed my entire family after 2 years and know I am running out of food and I have no job. I'm immigrating to America with my two hunderd dollars and my clothes. -

Arriving in America
After a long boat ride, I finally got to America. I had a little cough from being in those low ship holds for all that time. During the medical inspection I barely passed because of my cough. -
Getting a job
I finally found a job! After being in the ship and after the famine I was skinny and weak. It was hard but I finally found a job in a sweat shop, the conditions are terrible and it's hot and crowded. Then I'm also staying in a run down, crowded, and falling apart tenement. -
Buying Supplies
I have been working for a year and I finally have enough money to buy a horse, supplies and move west. I'm leaving next week so I'll make it for the land races, which is when I race other people to get free land. -
Arriving in the West
After three months of traveling I arrived in Sturgis, Dakota Territory. I knew all my traveling was worth it the land looked amazing. However, I arrived a liitle bit late the land race three days away and I found an inn to stay in until the land race. -
The Race
The land race is today me and my horse are well rested and ready. Someone tryed to jump the gun and was shot in the beginning. But then the cannon went off and everyone went crazy, a wagon tipped right in front of me and I almost fell off. However I made it and found one of the best piceces of land in the territory, it was lush and there was a good water source right near it. -
My life
It has been a couple years know, and I have wife and three kids. My farm is doing great, my family is making lots of money and our farm is flourishing. All is well in the MacMathghamhna household.
