  • Molasses Act

    Molasses Act
The Molasses Act was when Britain put taxes on imports from the colonies. The act was created for the purpose of Great Britain making more money. The colonists protested against the Molasses Act, which also led to them ignoring it.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
The Sugar Act made the Molasses act taxes half the price. The cost was reduced from six pence, to three pence per gallon. The colonists still didn't like the Sugar Act, even though the cost was lowered. The relationships between the colonies and Britain worsened after that.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
The Stamp Act, it was the start to the main issue of the American Revolution. Colonists demanded that they could not be taxed without representation. They felt as if the British government was taking away governing in the colonies and felt more restricted. The Stamp Act led to lots of riots, and attacks towards British tax collectors.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
The Quartering Act required the colonies to provide British soldiers with a home, and food. The colonists didn't like this act either, not because they had to care for British soldiers, but because they had to pay taxes for soldiers they found unnecessary.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
The Townshend Acts was another way for the British to tax the colonies. This time, glass, lead, paint, paper and tea imported to the colonies had taxes too. The colonists protested against this act as it interfered with their economy, and because they were still being taxed without representation. There ended up being a lot of violence towards those who didn't follow the acts.
