    Louis XVI was born in the Palace of Versailles. Named Louis Auguste de France, he was given the title Duc de Berry signifying his junior status in the French Court. He grew up strong and healthy but very shy, he was tutored by French noblemen and studied religion, morality and humanities. His parents paid little attention to him and mostly to his older brother who died at 9, and the father died on december 20, 1765. After that he became Dauphin at age 11.

This caused most of the people wanting the king to leave France.

He and his family were brought back to Paris, and he lost pretty much everything to continue as king. This shortly lead to the execution of Louis XVI and his wife a little later on.

    On January 21, 1793 Louis XVI was executed. He met his fate only a day after the National Convention led him to death and only hours after saying goodbye to his wife Marie Antoinette and their children the previous night. A massive crowd that had gathered to witness the historical moment. He was executed by a guillotine in the Place de la Revolution in Paris.
