Seven Years Old
Was given my first diary! I began recording significant events, feelings, etc in this diary. -
STATE EXAMS
The focus of Literacy Shifts! No longer for pleasure...Now for accountability. -
I Can Learn From Reading???
Reading to Learn...This transition inspired me to learn new and communicate new ideas. -
High School: Driver's Permit
Became more aware of street signs, road names, etc. Was able to successfully navigate through towns and villages. -
College!
Reading at the college level was much different! This experiences communicated the importance of learning strategies and skills for successfully navigating through texts. -
Teaching! 2009 to Present
In becoming an educator, my view on literacy changed. I now see literacy as an ever-changing element to our well-being. Students not only need to be able to function within society by learning to read, write, speak, and listen, but they need to be able to interact with their peers, technological devices, etc to effectively gain and communicate knowledge.
