    Egyptian religion was focused on afterlife or like after death. They believed it was their happy place. They leave the heart in the body. The ka is someones life force and when they die his or her ka or life force leaves the body and becomes a spirit. Method of mummification restores the body. Only elite or wealthy people get mummified. The poor get put in dry shallow graves.

    Nobles were people from rich and powerful families. They were right below the pharaohs in society. Most nobles were priests and key governmental officials. Farmers,slaves, and servants made up 80 percent of the society. Traders would acquire gold, copper, ivory, and stone.

    Egyptians believe that burial sites, especially royal tombs, were very important. Pyramids were to bury and show the rulers. Pyramids were huge, stone tombs with four triangle shaped sides that met in a point on the top. The largest pyramid was the Great pyramid of khufu. Engineering was used by Egyptians by building pyramids. They used engineering with scientific knowledge for practical purposes.

    Egypt began to fall into disorder once again. They hyksos ruled the region as pharoahs for 200 years.

    Egypt's leaders feared future invasion so they took control of all possible invasion routes into the kingdom. Turned the kingdom into an empire in the process.They took over the homeland of the Hyksos and continued north and conquered syria.

    Ahmose of Thebes rose to power. Conquest and trade brought wealth to the pharaohs.

    As Egypt expanded so did the trade. Trade routes or paths followed by traders were created. Queen Hatshepsut worked to increase trade. Hatshepsut and other pharaohs used the money they gained from trade to support the arts and architecture Hatshepsit was remembered for many impressive monuments and temples built during her reign.

    Pharaoh Ramses fought the hittites who came from asia minor. They fought for many years but neither could defeat the other. Many people tried to invade them and ramses fought them off and built a series of forts to strenthen the borders.

    New Kingdom

    After Ramses the great died invaders called the sea peoples sailed into southwest asia. After 50 years of fighting the egyptians were able to turn them back. Egypt survived but shortly after Ancient Egypt fell into a period of violence and disorder and egypt would never regain its power.
  • Middle Kingdom

    The Hyksos from the southwest asia invaded the middle kingdom. They used horses, chariots, and advanced weapons.
