  • Milo's M&M Enterprises

    Milo Minderbinder starts M&M enterprises after he is appointed mess officer. At 35 missions, Yossarian and Orr accompany Minderbinder on a business flight, where they learn that he has literally purchased all the cotton in Egypt. He also traded the morphine in Yossarian's jet, because there was none when Snowden was dying. Around this time Mudd dies on a mission to Orvieto. Chapter: Introduced in Chapter 7

  • Bombing run in Avignon

    Snowden dies here Afterwards Yossarian was naked at his funeral. He didn't want to wear the military uniform anymore because it had Snowden's blood on it once and he doesn't want to be reminded of that. Chapters: Multiple, but most apparent in chapter 41. This event is constantly alluded to by the chaplain and Yossarian himself

  • Yossarian is in the hospital

    Yossarian is in the hospital due to a liver pain and a temperature of 101. When a good-mannered Texan is admitted to the hospital, no one can stand him and within days everyone (including Yossarian and his friend Dunbar) leaves the hospital to go back to military duty. Yossarian and Dunbar cure their sicknesses by realizing they were never sick in the first place. Chapter: 1

    Yossarian returns to his flying group, gets called insane, and meets up with Doc Daneeka, who tells him that the missions have been raised to 50 by Colonel Cathcart. When the missions get raised to 55, he almost punches Cathcart. Chapter: 2

    Yossarian is wounded on a Leghorn mission, Scheisskopf joins General Peckem's command, and on the second mission to Bologna that Yossarian thought was going to be an easy one, Orr gets shot down and goes missing.
  • Kid Sampson and McWatt's Deaths

    McWatt accidentally kills Kid Sampson with one of the propellers on his plane. Unable to handle the guilt, he crashes his plane into a mountain after the rest of the men on his plane leave. Interestingly, since Doc Daneeka is on the flight logs, the officers assume he is there, and pronounce him dead, even though he is alive and well. Daneeka's wife leaves for Michigan after receiving letters of the news. Out of grief, Colonel Cathcart raises the missions to 75. Chapter: 30/31

  • Four Young Recruits Sent To Yossarian's tent

    After Orr's disappearance, 4 young recruits are sent to live with Yossarian in his tent. They move Orr's belongings out and nickname him Yo-Yo. Yo-Yo is absolutely sick of them, and hates them at first sight. Yossarian is 28. It is nearly winter, as stated by Chief White Halfoat, who has resolved to die of pneumonia that winter. Chapter: 32

    Throughout the rest of the book, the rest of Yossarian's friends die. Dobbs and Nately are killed on a mission in La Spezia, and Hungry Joe dies from his nightmares. Yossarian refuses to fly anymore after only completing 71 missions, and Cathcart and Korn make him make a deal with them to pretend to like them and he doesn't have to fly any more missions.
  • Yossarian flees to Sweden (END)

    After recollecting the death of a man in the back of his plane, Snowden, and getting sick of the Cathcart and Korn made with him, Yossarian resolves neither to fly any more missions nor listen to his commanding officers. In the hospital after being stabbed, he learns that Orr escaped to Sweden (Neutral Territory), and realizing that Orr knew it all along, Yossarian flees there too. Chapter: 42
