    The hobbit, Bilbo, is turning 111. The party is magnificent. There are fireworks, loads of food, gallons of ale, and presents for all. Near the middle of the party, Bilbo stands up and begins a speech. At the end of the speech, he says, "I regret to announce that this is the end...I am leaving now. Good-Bye", and with that he vanished (he put on The Ring).

    Bilbo travels to Rivendell. Frodo inherits Bag End and The Ring. Gandalf figures out that The Ring is very powerful and he leaves the Shire to find out more information. Frodo stays at Bag End.

    Frodo sells Bag End to the Sackville Bagginses. Then he travels from Hobbiton to Buckland with Sam and Pippin. He had previously bought a house in Buckland to settle down and live the rest of his life, or so everyone thinks.

    Frodo, Sam, Pippin and Mary set out from Frodo's house in Buckland into the Old Forest. The hobbits are riding on ponies so they don't have to carry everything. People say that the Old Forest is filled with nasty things.

    In the Old Forest, the hobbits come accross an old willow tree and become very tired and take a nap at the roots. All of a sudden the tree roots move and trap Mary and Pippin. Frodo and Sam wake up and try to get them out but the tree roots just squeeze tighter. When there seems to be no hope left for Mary and Pippin someone comes skipping and singing down the path. His name is Tom Bombadil. Tom sings a song and the tree magically releases Mary and Pippin. Then Tom invites them to his home.

    The hobbits stay at Tom Bombadil's house for two nights. There, they meet Golderberry (Tom's wife). They also eat lots of food and get well rested before the set off again.

    In the night the four hobbits mysteriously get captered by a Barrow-wight. The Barrow-wight takes them to his barrow (a cave). Frodo wakes up in the cave and calls for Tom Bombadil. Tom comes and saves the hobbits from the Barrow-wight. Then Tom rides with the hobbits on poneys all the way to the edge of his land the road.

    At the road, the hobbits say farewell to Tom Bombadil and ride to the town of Bree. They find the Prancing Pony Inn and check in. They go to the main room where "Big People" were singing, laghing and drinking ale. The hobbits spot a man in the corner of the room staring at them. They ask the inn keeper his name and the inn keeper tells them it is Strider.

    When the hobbits are ready to go to sleep in their room, Strider comes with them and makes them sleep in the main room for fear that the Black Riders would kill them in their sleep. In the morning, they look in the bed rooms and find that the windows were thrown open and the beds have sword slashes on them. They also found that the ponies were gone. The Black Riders had raided the inn during the night. So the hobbits decided that they would set out on foot wth Strider for Rivendell.

    After the hobbits and Strider travelled for six days, they came to an old, abandon watch tower called Weathertop. They make camp there and watch for the Ringwraiths. All of a sudden, in the night, the hobbits see the Ringwraiths coming towards the watch tower. The Ringwraiths climb up and attack the hobbits. When Frodo got stabbed and all hope seemed to be lost, Strider came out of the dark and attacked the Ringwraiths with fire and they all fled.

    After Frodo got stabbed it was crucial to get him to Rivendell where he could be healed by Lord Elrond. The hobbits and Strider trudged on. After days of traveling, they finally met up with an elf on a horse. All of a sudden, the Ringwraiths come around the bend and charge after Frodo. Strider puts Frodo on the horse and tells the horse to run and it runs all the way down the road, across the river. The Ringwraiths try to go across the river but they are washed away by a great flood.

    After Frodo crosses the river ,he gose unconcious and is taken to Rivendell. Lord Elrond heals him. Frodo wakes up in bed and to his surprise he is talking to Gandalf. Gandalf tells Frodo what happened to him when he was unconcious. Gandalf also says that when Frodo is well that there will be a secret council.

    A council takes place to decide the fate of the Ring. Many people gathered, elves, men, and dwarves. The council discusses many things like why Gandalf was away for a long time. The council goes on and decides that the Ring must be destroyed in the fires of Mt. Doom where it was created. Frodo, the Ring bearer, and eight other companions, volunteer to take the Ring to Mt. Doom. The fellowship of the Ring includes Frodo, Sam, Mary, Pippin, Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and Boromir.

    Elrond sent scouts to scout out if there were any Ringwraiths about so the Fellowship of the Ring would have a safe road. The scouts came back and said that there were no Ringwraiths about. Then the Fellowship of the Ring set out at night on their perilous quest.

    The Fellowship travels many days and finally arrives at the base of a mountain named Caradhras. They start to hike up it and the snow starts. The light snow quickly changes into a very harsh snow blizzard. The snow eventually is too much for the Fellowship so they turn around and trudge back down the mountain, through the snow. Caradhas had defeated them.

    After the Fellowship came down the mountain, they decided that they would travel to Moria and go under the mountain. After traveling for a few days, they finally came to one of the multiple entrances of Moria. Gandalf remembered the password, "Mellon" and entered.

    The Fellowship travels in the dark of Moria until they come to a three way intersection and stop for the night to sleep. In the morning, Gandalf, after alot of thinking, finally chose the way but was still unsure about it. They travel down the passage and eventually came to an open room with a tomb in the middle of it.

    When they come to Bolin's Tomb they hear the sound of drums. Orcs! The Fellowship quickly get into battle positions and baracades the door. The orcs break through and flood in, but the Fellowship defends. They kill a lot of orcs but enemy overpowers the Fellowship so they had to flee down some stairs and run down a tunel.

    The Fellowship keeps running and meets a Balrog. It is a demon from Morgoth. They run over the bridge of Khazad-dum with the Balrog in close pursuit. Gandalf fights it on the narrow bridge and the Balrog falls down. But as it is falling down it swings it's wip and Gandalf falls down into the pit of unimaginable depth!

    After Gandalf fell, the Fellowship got out of Moria and into the sunlight. They all were sad but they had to be moving on. The Fellowship traveled now with only Frodo and seven companions to the forest of Lothlorien. They went in and traveled for the rest of the day. In the night they were discovered by elves that were very reluctent to let them stay. Eventualy the elves let then sleep in the Mallorn trees. The next morning they set off with the elves to Cara Galadon.

    After traveling in the woods of Lothlorien for a day, they come to the city of Caras Galadon where they meet Lord Celeborn and Lady Galadriel. The Fellowship stays in the to city for many days. They rest, discuss, and plan their next corse of action.

    When they decided that they were going to continue their journey by boat they got ready to leave Lothlorien. Before they left they all recieved gifts. First they all got green cloaks that were wooven by Lady Galadriel herself. Then each of the Fellowship members got a special gift. When they loaded their gear and gifts into the canoes they set off down the Great River.

    The Fellowship travles for many days and eventualy comes to the part where Frodo had to decide wich way to go. They stop on the shore and give Frodo some time to think. While he is thinking, Boromir comes up and trys to take the Ring from Frodo. Frodo puts on the Ring and vanishes. He thinks some more and knows what he has to do. He runs back to camp, sees that no one is there, and quickly packs a canoe. He starts off, but Sam sees him and climbs into the boat. They paddle off into the distance.
