Watches football game at Pencey; Decides to visit Mr Spencer. -
Saturday, Chapter 2, Visits Mr. Spencer
Mr Spencer has a cold and lectures Holden on discipline. Holden gets annoyed and leaves. -
Chapter 3, Saturday, Returns to dorm
Holden returns to his dorm in Ossenburger Hall, and Ackley comes in to hang out and bother him while Holden tries to read. Stradlater comes in and tells the two about a date he's going out on. -
Chapter 4, Saturday, Stradlater leaves on date
Stradlated leaves on his date with Jane, but not before asking Holden to write a desciptive paper for him. Holden wants to say hi to Jane, seeing as he used to know her, but he doesn't. -
Chapter 5, Saturday evening, after dinner, Go out to see a movie.
Holden and Ackley accompany another boy out to see a movie, but they've already seen it. They play pinball, eat, and hang out instead. -
Chapter 6, Saturday, around 11 PM, Stradlater returns home
Stradlater comes back from his date, and he is unsatisfied with Holden's paper. Holden rips it up and continues to pester Stradlated about his date. Eventually Holden ends up pinned to the floor and punched in the face. -
Chapter 7, Saturday night, Ackley's room
Holden goes to spend the night in Ackley's room, then decides to leave Pencey that night, instead of waiting. -
Chapter 8, Late Saturday/Early Sunday, Leaving Pencey
Holden walks to train station to go to NYC. At a stop in Trenton, a woman boards the train. -
Chapter 9, Early Sunday monring, arrives at Penn Station
He arrives at the station and wants to call someone, but it's really late. -
Chapter 10, Early Sunday morning, Nightclub at Edmont Hotel
Holden tries to order alcohol, since his height and grey hair usually allow him to do so. He makes small tlak and dances with three women who are uninterested in him. He leaves after paying for drinks. -
Chapter 11, Early Sunday Morning, Remembering Jane Gallagher
Holden thinks about Jane Gallagher, and tells about how he knew her in more detail than before. They were close. -
Chapter 12, Early Sunday Morning, Cab to Ernie's nightclub
In the cab, Holden talks to the driver about ducks mainly. At the club he listens to Ernie play piano, drinks, and meets Lilian Simmons, a girl his brother used to date. He leaves in order to get away from her. -
Chapter 13, Early Sunday Morning, Returning to hotel
Holden walks 41 blocks back to his hotel. In the elevator, the operator sets him up with a prostitute for five dollars. The girl, Sunny, arrives and Holden only wants to talk. She is disinterested and he gives her five dollars and tells her to leave, but she says it's ten dollars now. -
Chapter 14, Early Sunday Morning, After Sunny
Holden smokes and reminisces about Allie. Maurice comes in and pins Holden to the wall while Sunny takes five more dollars from him. Holden is punched in the stomach and then they leave, -
Chapter 15, Morning app. 10:00 AM.
Holden calls Sally Hayes and sets up a datefor 2:00 PM. He eats a sandwich and talks to some nuns about Romeo and Juliet. He donates ten dollars to them and realizes he needs to save some money for his date, -
Chapter 16, Sunday, After breakfast
He goes down to Broadway and buys a record for his sister, Phoebe, and tickets for the show he's seeing with Sally. He goes to the ice rink in hopes of catching Phoebe there, and then to the museum, -
Chapter 17, 2:00 PM, Date with Sally
Holden goes to the Biltmore Hotel to meet Sally, who is late. After the show they go ice skating. Holden starts ranting about phonies, saying that he and Sally should run away together. They argue and then he leaves without Sally. -
Chapter 18, Early Sunday Evening, Making a Date with Luce
Holden goes to the drugstore to buy some stuff to eat for dinner, and calls Carl Luce to make plans for later that night. -
Chapter 19, 10:00 PM, Meeting with Luce
Holden meets Luce at a club, and pesters him about his sex life. This alienates and annoys Luce, who eventually leaves after getting fed up. -
Chapter 20, Sunday night, after Luce
Holden stays at the bar and gets drunk. He goes to Central Park to see the ducks, but they aren't there. After that, he decides to go visit Phoebe. -
Chapter 21, Sunday Night, Home
Holden sneaks into his apartment, and finds Phoebe in DB's room. He wakes her up and she's very excited before she realizes that he's been kicked out of school again. Holden leaves the room to let her cool down and to get cigarettes. -
Chapter 22, Sunday night, Phoebe
Holden finally gets Phoebe to listen to him and tells her that the worst that will come of this is that their parents would send him to military school. -
Chapter 23, Sunday night, End of the visit
Holden takes a moment to call his old teacher, Mr. Antolini, who tells Holden that he can come and spend the night. Holden has a dance with Phoebe then hides when his parents come home. Before he leaves, Phoebe lends him her Christmas money. -
Chapter 24, Sunday night, Mr. Antolini
Holden goes over to Mr. Antolini's house. Mr. Antolini gives Holden a lecture and a lot of advice, then he lets him sleep on the couch. Holden wakes up with a start when Mr. Antolini starts stroking Holden's head. Holden is scared and leaves. -
Chapter 25, Monday Morning
After having spent the night at Central Station, Holden wakes up and decides to hitchhike west. He tells Phoebe to meet him at the museum on her lunch break at school. Phoebe meets him but brings a suitcase, wanting to go with him. He says no, and they go to zoo. Holden decides not to leave. -
Chapter 26, sometme in the immediate future
Holden is institutionalized and shares that he will be enrolling in school again in the fall.
