Timeline from 1800-1876

  • Lousiana Purchase

    President Jefferson had bought the Lousiana Territory for $15 million. This purchase nearly doubled the size of the United States.
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition

    Lewis and Clark had a group of over forty men who went on their expedition. They were asked for President Jefferson to map out and the wild west of North America and explore it.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    This was made to show Europe that the U.S wasn't allowing European Monarchies to try and take their power in the Americas.
  • Battle of the Alamo

    General Santa Anna came with his people, and a couple weeks later, the Mexicans had a major attack, which they won in the end and killed everyone that was in the fort.
  • Civil War

    This war was fought between the northern and southern states of the U.S. The South didn't want to be apart of the states anymore and for that, they decided to make their own country instead.
  • The Great Chicago Fire

    This fire destroyed Chicago with an area that was about four miles long. 17,000 buildings were burnt down to the ground, leaving about 100,000 people with no homes.
