Prenatal Development and Birth
Biosocial: My mom took prenatal vitamins and smoked cigarettes -
Period: to
The First 2 Years
Biosocial: I didn't get the benefits of being breast fed. Both my mom and dad smoked so second hand smoke was a factor.
Cognitive: I started to understand language but only used holophrastic speech. I uttered my first word, "da-da".
Psychosocial: My mother was very loving and always there, she took very good care of me (showing me love when I needed and feeding me on time, etc.) and I learned to trust. -
Period: to
Early Childhood
BIosocial: I didn't brush my teeth regularly and as any child does, I loved candy. This led to tooth decay and cavities early on.
Cognitive: Not brushing my teeth regularly lead to bad teeth brushing habits. I traced EVERYTHING during this stage, which built my motor skills and my understanding of writing.
Psychosocial:During this time my dad left. He didn't just forget about me, but he moved out and had a lot going on so he wasn't really in the picture. -
Period: to
Middle Childhood
Biosocial: I loved sports. My days would be spent in my side lot with all the neighborhood kids playing kickball until my mom made me come in.
Cognitive: I also loved the outdoors. I learned and mastered the skill of frog catching.
Psychosocial: I just remember always wanting to be older and to be treated older. I was in a rush to be older for some reason. -
Period: to
Adolescence
Biosocial: I went through puberty during this time, but much later than all of my friends. My periods were never regular so I eventually got on birth control.
Cognitive: Through this time I went from revolving everything I do around what I others thought to realizing it's my life sometimes what others think doesn't matter!
Psychosocial: By the end of this period I really did not care what others thought. I also went through a rough patch with my close friends. Maybe due to stress of graduating. -
Period: to
Emerging Adulthood
Biosocial: I'm very active and exercise 6 days a week. I have unhealthy eating habits.
Cognitive: Many HUGE decisions arising in my life. Working on my decision making. Also have a lot of other voices around me trying to make decisions for me.
Psychosocial: Going away to college made me take a couple steps back on caring what people thought of me. I think this was due to being in a new area around new people. -
Period: to
Adulthood
Biosocial:I won't have a choice but to eat healthier. Staying active will be important. I think damage will start to show in my skin from the sun, smoking and acne.
Cognitive: I'm going to school to be a teacher, so I will continue to learn throughout my career. As I teach I will learn more and more about the subject matter as well as learn other things from the students!
Psychosocial: Even now at the age of 20 I dislike birthdays because I'm getting older so aging will still bother me. -
Period: to
Late Adulthood
Biosocial: The wear and tear I put on my body with all the sports I do will be evident.
Cognitive: I wear glasses now and by late adulthood I'm betting I will still be in glasses but with a higher prescription.
Psychosocial: Hopefully by this time I'm lived enough to be more accepting that the end is coming. -
Death and Dying
I predicted my death year to be 2080, which would make me 85.
Between this class and other classes that I've taken, I have taken multiple questionnaires that predict how long you'll live so I based my prediction off those.
