  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act placed a tax on almost all printed items.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    Britian repealed the Stamp Act but replaced it with the declaratory act which said that Parliament had the right to tax and make decisions for the British colonies "in all cases."
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    Applied tax to all printed goods--glass, tea, paper, and lead and were paid at the port.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A fight broke out between the colonist and the british soldiers. they stated throwing sticks and a soldier was know down, they opened fire and killed five colonists leading to the removal of British troops.

    The Tea Act
    To keep the British East India Company from going ouit of business, Parliament passed the Tea Act. it also allowed the company to sell tea directly to colonies at a lower price.

    Three tea ships arived in the Boston Harbor in 1773. in response to the Tea Act, Sam Adamsand the Bostons Sons of Liberty dressed up like indians, sneaked into the ships in the middle of the night,a dn threw 342 chests of tea overboard
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    King George III and Parliament heard about the Boston Tea PArty and realized they were loosing control over the colonies, so Parliament passed a series of laws called the Intolerable Acts, that violated the colonists' rights.
    -These laws closed Boston Harbor and kept food and suplies from being delivered to boston.
    - Banned town meetings
    - forced colonist to quarter soldiers
  • 1st Continental Congress

    1st Continental Congress
    Delegates met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the First Continental Congress to discuss problems with Britian.
    One of their msot important decisiions was the start forming militias.
  • Midnight Ride: Revere, Cheswell, Dawes

    Midnight Ride: Revere, Cheswell, Dawes
    Paul Revere, Wentworth Cheswell, and William Dawes were notifieed when a group of British soldiers were seen gathering in Boston. They went to Lexington to warn Samuel ADams, John Hancock, and the rest of the militiamen that the British were coming.

    2nd Continenetal Congress
    The Seconf Continental Congress met for the first time, declaring that independance from Britian was a whiles away. Many delegates were from the First Continental Congress including a few new delegate. Teh congress unanimously chose George Washington as the Army's commander.
