    it was a law that allowed the territories of Kansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves whether to allow slavery or not, it essentially repealed the Missouri Compromise. it intensified the divisions between pro-slavery and anti-slavery factions this led to the bleeding Kansas.

    it caused states to secede from the country, it was seen as a threat to the south which rose tensions between the north and the south due to Abe Lincoln's ant-slavery stance it was the final thing before the war happened
