    This hurricane roared right through the city of Galveston, Texas with winds in excess of 130 miles per hour and a 15 foot storm surge! It left between 6,000 and 8,000 dead.

    On September 14th, of 1901 Theodore Roosevelt became President of the United States after the assassination of President William McKinley.
  • First aircraft invented!

    First aircraft invented!
    The Wright brothers created the first ever controlled, contained flight in heavier-than-air aircraft at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. It so happened that the flight was 12 seconds traveling a whopping 120 feet with Orville piloting this aircraft. The best flight that happened that day was when Wilbur was at the controls with 852 feet being covered in 52 seconds.

    World War 1 ends on November 11th, 1918 with the signing of the Armistice, the Treaty of Versailles! This war in total left nine million soldiers dead and twenty-one million injured.

    After the Pearl Harbor bombing of December 7th, 1941, the United States entered WW2 by declaring war on Japan.

    The German armed forces surrendered to the Allies (The U.S.; Great Britain, and the Soviet Union) on May 7th, 1945. This surrender went into effect on the next day, May 8th.

    The court case Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka Kansas declares that racial segregation is unconstitutional. This court case established the precedent “separate-but equal”, but the services and education wasn’t in fact equal to that of black people.

    At the time, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, TX, which led to Vice President Johnson being inaugurated.
