  • World War 1

    World War 1
    July 28,1914 - November 11, 1918.
    Launched by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary. However, The United States of America did not enter the war until 1917 when German forces attacked American ships in the Atlantic. The war ultimately game to an end when Germany and Austria-Hungary lose control of the countries and they eventually surrendered. This was a one of the deadliest conflicts the world has yet to see and was fought by air, land, and water.
  • Great Depression

    Great Depression
    10-year economic depression beginning in 1929 on what is now known as "Black Tuesday". The Wall Street Stock Market crashed resulting in lost jobs, high unemployment, and over half of the banks to fail. Due to this depression many government programs began such as the "New Deal". The Great Depression ultimately game to an end due to World War 2.
  • World War 2

    World War 2
    1939-1945. Rise of Adolf Hitler. Began when Hitler invaded Poland. The Holocaust was genocide of the Jewish people Europe. The United States of America enter 1941 when Japanese aircraft bombed Pearl Harbor. The war ended when U.S forces dropped atomic bombs on Japan resulting in them surrendering and Germany later followed. One of the deadliest wars and the number of lives lost in 50-60 million people, 6 million of which died in the Holocaust.
  • Cold War

    Cold War
    1947-1991. Known as a "Cold War" because no battles were actually fought. Instead, it was more of a rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union. Ending in 1991 when communism in Europe died and the Soviet Union Dissolved.
  • Vietnam War

    Vietnam War
    1955-1975 a war that many Americans would say was pointless for us to enter. Beginning with Communist North Vietnam trying to take over South Vietnam. United States entered to prevent the spread of communist but ultimately when the United States pulled out the North Communist Vietnam took over South Vietnam. Many lives were lost most of which wer Vietnam citizens.
  • Korean War

    Korean War
    Lasting 3 years, 1950-1953, this was war between North and South Korea. The United States eventually joined to prevent the threat of communism with the fear that the Soviet Union and China involvement would cause. A peace treaty was signed in 1953 which drew a border line between North and South Korea.
  • Civil Rights Movement

    Civil Rights Movement
    1954-1968. Fight for social justice for Black Americans. Even with the end of slavery, Black Americans still were facing discrimination, prejudice, and violence. Blacks were unable to use same public restrooms, eat a restaurants as whites. Many powerful people such as Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. lead the fight. A peaceful march on Washington lead to a true policy changes.

    "Black Monday" Stock Market Crash 1987
    A short-lived stock market crash seen across the world. Biggest percentage drop in one day. Only took two years for the market to fully recover and gain back almost all the money lost years prior. Due to this event "circuit breakers" were put in place to prevent future events of this nature to happen.
  • Fall of Berlin Wall

    Fall of Berlin Wall
    1. Originally build in 1961 this wall divided east and west Berlin Germany. It was a way to divide the countries political differences. The "fall" happened in 1989 when the east wanted to work on relations with the west. The "fall" was the beginning for the reunification of Germany.
  • Jihadist bombing on the World Trade Center

    Jihadist bombing on the World Trade Center
    1. Terrorist from the Middle East planted a car bomb in the parking garage of one of the World Trade Centers. The bomb did cause major destruction, however not as much as the terrorist had hoped for. This event was the beginning plot to what would happen in 2001 on September 11. When terrorist would fly two planes into the World Trade Center resulting in the fall of the towers and thousands of deaths.
