    Emperor Constantine 1 founded the Byzantine capital

    In this time period, Byzantine was chose as the “New Rome” with an eponymous capital city, Constantinople. While five years earlier, Rome’s official religion was chosen as Christianity.

    General Belisarius military campaigns

    Belisarius was one if the mast important figures in the Roman military tradition. He led armies against the Sassanian empire, the vandal kingdom of North Africa, the ostrigotichic regime of Italy, and the barbarian troops encroaching upon Constantinople.

    Nika revolt

    The Nika revolt took place against emperor Justinian 1 in Constantinople over the course of a week. It is said that they were the most violent riots in the city’s history.

    Hagia Sofia Completed

    Also known as the church of holy wisdom or church of divine wisdom, the cathedral was built at Constantinople.

    The Urban Pope wanted to reinforce the power of the papacy, so he seized the opportunity to unite Christian Europe under him as he fought to take back the holy lands from the Turks.

    Fourth crusade

    The byAntin city of Constantinople divided and dissipated the efforts of the Christians to maintain war against the Muslims. Eventually it was corrupted due to its purpose early on.

    Fall of Constantinople to the ottoman Turks

    Resulting in the Ottomans becoming an empire, it was caused by the Ottoman Empire invading the Byzantine empire and succeeding. Therefore resulting in the complete fall of the eastern Roman Empire.
