Starving Time (Winter Season)
During the winter of 1609 and 1610, nearly 440 settlers of Jamestown died from no food, sickness, horrible leaders, and wars between Indians. They did not receive the food supplies from the Virginia Colony. Only 60 colonist lived through the winter.

Henry Hudson

Massacre of 1622
Took place in the English Colony of Virginia, the Powhatan lead by Chief Opechancanough, grabbed any tools or weapons available and killed all English settlers including men, women, and children of all ages. Constituted a watershed in history of the Jamestown settlement.

Attack on Native Americans
Earliest attacks against Native Americans begins King Philip's War. It all started with the killing of Philip's (chief) tribe members. John Sassamon being killed also awoke all of the conflict between Native Americans and English settlers.

Known as one of the bloodiest battles in the United States History. It was between Native Americans and English Settlers. Phillip was a chief of the Wampanoag tribe that started to have conflicts with the new English settlers.

Bacon's Rebellion

First Settlers in Mississippi
The French claimed the territory that included Mississippi as part of their colony of New French and started settlement along the Gulf Coast. It used to be inhabited by Native American tribes, such as the Choctaw and Chickasaw. Pierre d'Iberville created the first settlement, called Fort Maurepas.

Raid on Deerfield, Massachusetts

Benjamin Franklin

Trial of John Peter Zenger
Zinger published the New York Weekly Journal, in which he wrote against the actions of William S. Cosby. Put on trial for libel. Freedom of the Press becomes recognized in New York after the trial. Due to Alexander Hamilton's arguments, Zenger was acquitted and was freed from prison.
