    Joseph Smith
    Joseph Smith is a essential piece to the Mormon religion. Smith wrote the Book of Mormon that many people joined because the citizens were looking for a New Religion. Joseph has said that he was visited by Jesus Christ and God and they sent him on a mission to find golden plates. As Joseph claims he found the golden plates in a burned over district in western New York. Smith also claims they plates were in hieroglyphics.     Mormonism is founded by Joseph Smith. He gathered people looking for a new religion and the group grew to be bigger with all of his wives producing children. After Joseph dies, Brigham Young comes along and takes over being the leader of the Mormons. Quaking and Shaking was the practice of worshiping their profit, Joseph Smith. During this time the women sat in the back of this rehearsal because some at first did not believe in polygamy. The picture shows Quakers and Shakers worshiping.

    Andrew Jackson's letter to congress basically tried to convince congress to remove Native American tribes out of the western area. Jackson's reasoning behind this, is to make way for American Westward expansion of the country. He is also reminding them of the benefits of having more land will make more money by making room for farming and business that will make America more money.     The Alamo was a historical event in the eighteen thirty's. It was a battle between the Texian Army and the Mexican Army led by General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. Santa Anna launched an attack on The Alamo with Texan citizens inside The Alamo. While slowly fighting over a thirteen day period, Texian people decided to join the Texian Army due to Santa Anna Hatred towards the Alamo's people.     Trail of Tears
    The Trail of Tears was time of distress for Native American Tribes. They were pushed out of their inherited homeland and forced to walk for one thousand miles. The original amount of time walking that was expected was two months. Sometimes the walk could take up to six to seven months. The sad part is that many natives lost family members, animals, and lots of food during this period. The picture is to describe how many Native had to move out of their land.

    The Native Removal was moving coast to coast because of American expansion. John L. O' Sullivan's idea was to Christianize all the tribes to better their lives. John L. O' Sullivan explains these actions in a article he edited in the 1840's called "Annexation of Texas". In That article claimed that Texas is now ours and is part of our country at that time.     The Donner party was led by nobody other that George Donner and James F. Reed. Their goal was to reach California by wagon and look for a new life. During their time on the way, weather became an issue. The new way to California was called the Hastings cutoff, the only result in this way was loss of people and cattle.     Gold Rush
    The Gold Rush was a discovery of gold that brings people from all over the world in seek of becoming rich, which was the American dream of course. Lots of gold was actually found in places like Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, South Africa, and Canada. There was other gold findings in other places but these were the jackpot places. The people made very little money of mining for gold, few people actually made profit of mining. This act was known as quick money which was a big thing the 1840's.

    The Mexican War is known as Mexican-American War was a long gun battle between the two army's. President James K. Polk wanted to expand West for only Americas benefit. Mexican didn't see eye to eye with this.This war first started with some Mexican troops shooting a pack of U.S. soldiers, killing 12 American men.     Brigham Young was the second leader for the Mormon religion when Joseph Smith died, he was counted to be leader until death. As leader, Brigham Young moved the Mormons from Missouri to Illinois. Next Young took sixteen thousand Mormons from Central Illinois, all the way to Salt Lake City , Utah in hopes for a new start and a better place to live. In his time there he led the founding of the University of Utah while also contributing to the expansion of telegraphs and railroad lines. The picture
