Charles the First was born
Charles ruled over extensive domains in Central, Western, and Southern Europe, and the Spanish Colonies in the Americas and Asia. Most of his reign was devoted to the Italian Wars against France. Yet, he is best known for opposing in the Protestant Reformation and for signing the Edict of Worms. -

Charles the First appointed himself king of Castile, and crowned the title of King of Leon and Aragon. With him being king, he aquired many more titles, such as Holy Roman Emperor. Without Charles being the king of all these places, they would not be as advanced as they are now. -

Ivan the terrible was born
He was neglected and occasionally scorned by members of the nobility who looked after him after his parents' death. He was proclaimed grand duke on the death of his father in 1533, which started his reign until 1584. During what is considered the constructive period of his reign, he introduced self-government in rural regions, reformed tax collection, and instituted statutory law and church reform. .. He acquired vast amounts of land through ruthless means, creating a centralized government. -

Ivan was appointed tsar of Muscovy
He appointed a council of advisors, a building assembly who helped institute his reforms. A month later, he chose his wife amongst the virgins gathered from all parts of Russia. In 1551 the tsar submitted to a synod of prelates’ a hundred questions as to the best mode of remedying existing evils. -

The 1550s were the good part of Ivan’s reign as he broke away from his past and surrounded himself with good men. In 1556, he instituted regulations on the obligations of the boyar class in service of the crown. -

Peter the first ruled parts of Russia since the age of 10. Peters main focus was on science, new technology, and making new advances in many things. Near the end of his reign, he became known as the Emperor of All Russia and Peter the Great. -
Peter was crowned Tsar of Russia
Peter was crowned Tsar of Russia and forced to rule with his brother, under the patronage of his sister. This crowning led Peter to create the first real Russian Navy, and to capture the Ottoman city of Azov. Without his leadership, Russia would not be where they are today. -
Cancellation of Edict of Nantes
Louis cancels the edict of Nantes, which protects religious rights of Huguenots. Louis fought with the Protestants and viewed them as rebels. He was raised in narrow and simplistic religion, and after failing to convert the Protestants by force, he revocated the edict of Nantes, which had allowed them to worship freely. This caused endless misfortune and countless artisans to leave France. -
Louis XIV died
Four days before his 77th birthday, Louis XIV died of gangrene at Versailles. He was a great monarch, and was capable of maintaining a strong kingdom because he never doubted himself. -
Peter the Firsts death
Peter made an everlasting impact of Russia and their government. In his early reign ,he reorganized and created a strong navy, nonreligious schools, controlled the Orthodox Church, and introduced new administrative and territorial divisions. He also focused on the development of science and new technology. By the end of his reign, he was known as Emporer of All Russia, Great Father of the Fatherland, and "The Great".
